Ice, if you are using l3dt I strongly urge you to render the base texture in l3dt, then pull the entire thing in photoshop to add extra details.
Look at whakamatunga riri (as an example)... There is a hell of a lot of added detail and hand drawn stuff in there.
Also, my tutorial covers correct rendering processes so you might wanna look over that.

yeah i already took a look at your help topic.
Thanks for the info, i had to put some time into understanding the way it works. (have someproblems with importing files, but probably a trial limitation)
aaron@bundysoft has already received a message :)
(you know how long it may take for me to receive the 180-day trial of the professional edition?
i'll probably talk to you later about l3dt. The looks of your last map are definatly improved!

Center Rock is rendering..
After that, it definately will need post-processing in PS. But keep your hopes up. With an astounding 11 hits, this will be the next first map i will release.
After that one, i will start with GUI concept artwork...
I'll post some new images in a new Center Rock thread.. tomorrow probably..
PS aaron form bundysoft hasn't replied yet...

Here is a small demo pic for the peepz that are waiting :)...
The map is rendering at high quality tonight. I'm thinking of making 2 Center Rocks, one 12x12 and on on 24x24.
The TestMap i ran worked ok (@ 8x8) however aai 0.63 didn't like it after 10 min
.. OTAI worked out fine... Tomorrow more on this.. and hopefully a working map on (at least) 12x12
This is how it probably is going to look, the minimap offcourse then
Suggestions on color are always welcome, because i will tune them once this render of 8 hours is complete... So let me know what you like/dislike.

Yeah, the texture is kinda like.. Rock.. but the nice thing about Photoshop is.. that you can add anything, as much as you like.
I will look into detailing the map, but most is just plain hard rock... (PS. this demo was rendered in quickmode, so some detail wasn't rendered)
Features are indeed very nice useable on this map, and that is one thing i surely want to add! Maybe someone has some usefull links to (downloadable) features like:
rocks, desert bushes, more rocks, more desert bushes :)

If this doesnt help you, make a new thread asking for exactly what you want, and someone will probably help you.

Okay, after some test runs, the map works very nice!
Ai had some problems, but they depended on their starting locations.
Now everything works, but i need to get features in them. Those green 'trees' (desert bushes) are also height 'blobs' but other than TA view, they don't look quite realistic. Im thinking of making my own 3D bush features.. (unless i can find the right ones).. after that is done and implemented, i can show some pics!
later.
