Well, get the people to PM me with the code/changes and I'll see what I can do.

I'd be thrilled if Sean shared some of his changes and updates! *pokes sean*

If we're going to have a separate version, might as well go all the way. ;)

I just wish I could find the bug that seems to be crashing every game I play. I have a hunch it has something to do with explosions, but not 100% on why. Can't get SY to even LOOK for a bug because I use MiniSpring. I KNOW there's something wrong. Seems to happen with big explosions. :(

Anyway, I await the PM's...

I'd just like to see a bi-monthly release EVERY TIME...

and just call it "SpringBetaXXYYZZ" where XX (month 01-12) YY (day) ZZ (year)

so like if you release one tomorrow its "SpringBeta070505" if the next day "SpringBeta070605" etc....

it'd be SIMPLIER, and easier for EVERYONE to stay up to date together... and on top of everything we can ALL search for bugs on EVERY release...

yay...

its not THAT big of download for the engine... like what 4 megs? blah

run the units and maps seperate....

I say start the releases on EVERY 1st and EVERY 15th of EVERY month... just plan on it...

if there is only 3 changes to the engine alltogether per update... so be it

if you wanna run it more often cool.... less often... eh... ok.... but yeah 2 weeks for an update SHOULD be sufficient... to keep us up to date ;-)

Then why not use the current system? Same url, same file name, it's always the latest version...

Won't this just perpetuate online incompatibilities?

Perhaps if the online server broadcast the latest Spring build at joining, to make sure that everyone had it...

I think Buggi's release is just for internal testing and curious people...

I'll start appending a build number on the version you see when loading the game, that way every time something is updated the build number increases and resets on every *major* release by SY.

So the next release I could put out would be .51b1 Build 4

Then everyone can sync using THAT knowing which version is which.

Still no PM's <.<

I need sean to PM me. :-)

I looked adding the model for weapons (missiles) and it's far more complex than I thought. Or at least, more complex then my post-holiday brain could handle. I *HOPE* I can get one of the SY's to help me.

And the build pics are not broken. :P Once I get my unit set going I'll be able to crush the conflicts in build menus easily and then I'll set minispring back to regular menu/button loading.

Guess I'll have to live with it... for now. :P

Also guess that means my next request of 'turn off back-face rendering' is something of a long shot then.

BUILD 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-Added support for 7zip archives. (.sd7)

-> Custom Missile models for non-VTO missiles. (Mini-only, for now)

I added "Build 4" in the text when the game loads so you know which version you are using.

Other tweaks, fixes, and updates.

Probably released on the verge of another major spring release, but oh well.

http://www.epicedit.com/spring.zip ~2.6 megs

Includes Spring.exe, MiniSpring.exe, new dll's, and updated txt's.

Enjoy!!

It's compatible with 0.51b1 Build 4's :D

It's a new version. If you want to test, just copy and paste your spring dir and put the new versions in there to test. :-)

I can't seem to get my 7zip archives to work, even when renaming them to (.sd7) or (.sdz). Do I need to have any crazy compression settings when making the files? These are total conversion files that I've unpacked from an HPI and tested them without any sort of compression or taenheter.ccx present , then I packed them in 7zip format, and sadness occurs. :/

Edit: Although, normal zip files work just dandy fine.

There's a note about 7zip...

"Note that it is probably not a good idea to use solid archives since Spring does not access the files sequentially."

Not sure what Fnordia means by a solid archive... :-\
