Hot off the presses!!

Post by Buggi »

http://www.epicedit.com/spring.zip

This includes spring.exe, minispring.exe and the newly compiled DLL files. Some major updates, some minor updates. Major includes GlobalAI interface updates (hence the recompiled dll's), minor updates include some code tweaks.

Spring.exe is UNTOUCHED my be, strictly SY. MiniSpring.exe obviously Buggi-hauled to be Mini. DLL's also untouched.

While this isn't an official release, the regular spring is untouched by me, so SY should be able to help with crashes and bugs, don't even bother with minispring because they don't like it, don't support it, and don't play it. So we're on our own @_@;;

Enjoy!

That is cool...

I don't like the wording "Mini-spring", but you would be surprised how many problems you can solve by simply scaling everything down a bit. 8)

So, I'm guessing those that play minispring don't make use of the holding down shift and doing the click and drag row building, as they would find a rather nasty bug.

I've only seen row building break with DT/Sandbags (in SWTA) and mines, personally. I think you just need to find the place in the code where it handles the buildsquare things it shows on the map while you're selecting a location and edit something there...

Is it really wise to have ppl play games with even more variations that aren't directly visible when you start a game? Maybe better to have this as a real release?

Well one sees that when the SDY's update the CVS the following happens:

CVS updated
Buggi compiles and releases

*a few CVS updates later*
CVS updates
Fnordia writes a new thread and updates downloads section.

Eitherway, this is globalAI thats in thsi version which is useful for those who cant compile the code but would ahve use of the binaries or dont know how.

For those keeping tabs on releases, the latest updates are ready for usage. I consider these build 3 of 0.51b1

I did NOT include the DLL's with this that I did in the last... Just didn't zip them I guess. :-/ If anyone needs them, either get them from someone who downloaded them, or ask and I'll update the zip.

Anyway, this is pretty major.

-Added resurrection capability
-Added support for regular zip archives. Using extension "sdz" to avoid confusion.
-Added beamlaser type weapon

Resurrection works great!!! :D
As does the new zip archives. Just zip up your dir's and change the extension to .sdz and BINGO, spring loads them fine.

This should help out TONS with mod makers.

Not sure how to test the beamlaser weapon @_@;;

http://www.epicedit.com/spring.zip as always.

Enjoy!

ps Some may wonder why I release current builds. The answer is simple, for those who can't compile and to test the most current code. If flaws are found or new crashes occur, a fix can be done before a new release. And some people just like to use the latest version (like me). :-)

yay! resurection!

Buggi, I hope the SY's are accepting your changes, if anyones a good candidate to fork the project it's your changes, and we all know what forking the project will do to the community.

At least provide the dll's in a seperate file for download for those who want it?!

Well there was another major update adding 7zip to the list of usable archives. (plus some other minor tweaks).

Anyone interested in a Build 4?

I can sense hostility when it comes to my releases. :?

@Buggi : hu? I don't see any hostility...I I would love you if I couldn't compile myself the code ;)
Perhaps you could compile it with the newGUI to let people see how it look...
