Why would the menu for a contruction unit disappear after a single click? I tend to que up at least several minutes worth of structures, does this mean I have to keep pressing a button to pop up a buildmenu? I mean, what's the point of selecting a con unit and not building? If the menu didn't disap...

would love to see al options on the screen but consider, if al the options beeing shown takes up all the screen, you select a building for building and ... where do you place it? For units: 1. You select the builder unit 2. You press the hotkey to bring up the build menu for that unit 3. You select...

Having all building possibilities shown at once is too much. Some units are able to build so many others that, if all of them are shown, it would fill the whole screen (unless you're running Spring through a projector on a wall). And why would that be a problem? Regarding the configuration, the bui...

I really hope the new new gui will support a lightweight interface with transparent windows etc as the current one. It is so old fashioned to have a bloated GUI where some parts are always visible even though you don't use them. The window showing the selected units in the old Warcraft (and Starcraf...

Another solution: Transports can only pick up friendly units that are moving (because they are cooperating). Enemy units can not be picked up if they are moving. Maybe some really evil transports should be able to do that too, but in general they should not be able to do that. Or something like that...

Rotatable buildings the way Maelstrom describes them sounds like a good idea to me, and something like that would be nice to have if the problems SJ mentions can be addressed. IMHO, a compass/direction arrow is unnecessary since a similar effect can be archieved by remembering the last direction use...
Betalord, have you seen my previous comments on game/battle rooms?
(I have not had time to catch up on the latest Spring development or test the new lobby so please forgive me if some of the ideas I am talking about here are already supported in some way)

Relational databases are a good choice for storing...ehm...relational data in table/column format. In most cases it is best to keep the database normalized and relations are described through foreign keys etc. I can't see why Spring would need all the power (and overhead) of a RDB to load unit descr...

I must say I prefer the transparent windows. It boggles my mind how somebody can prefer that black stuff  I want a slick UI, taking as little space as possible and only visible when needed. The TA UI was ok (better than other RTS) but not slick enough and the left menu would not have to be dis...

Guys, to me it looks like you are talking about different things. Cheery asked about databases, not different formats for units etc. As for databases, Spring have no use for a traditional database, such as SQLite3. The multiplayer server, however, uses a database to keep track of all registered user...

I have some ideas on how to fix this problem with setting up games and handling irritating people without having to password lock the game etc. I think JouninKomiko has plans to implement it also so it will be in in some future version. If Jou wants to concentrate on AI, maybe I'll have to implement...
