Dual-screens? nah. Dual-consoles? yep.

Post by RaiFox »

I like the idea of running spring on multiple screens.

Myself, I run spring on two screens.

More screens the better.

Unfortunately my GFX card is limited to 3 displays.

As evident by the title I'm putting forward the idea of running spring across multiple consoles. (to use their screens, maybe even input devices).

For example, I could use up to 5 displays (currently) to play spring.

3 screens from my main computer.
1 screen from my second computer.
1 screen from my soft-modded xbox.

Many things will be possible with these unusual configurations, such as having an entire keyboard for chatting, using an xbox controller when possessing a unit, dualing mice (quicker unit commands), setting a display to watch a specified unit/part of map, having a display for chat history or statistics, having a display for the build menu, separate displays for metalmap and radar map.

A program to handle the non-primary display stuff would best be programed for compatibility with Linux so that it will be compatible with a wider range of appliances.

Somewhat useless? yep.
Incredibly awesome? yep.

Such features will also serve as a "reason why Spring is better than SupCom".

Before you flame for stupid requests, take a look at the LED resource meter thread in the development section.

join different accounts and set your team the same? then all the instances of spring would control the same units.

But you would have to have more screens, and you'd have at least two different game screens to watch simultaneously.

Do you have a nuclear power station on your roof or what?

i would call it energy waste. but its fun indeed
but i had a wall-to-wall crt monitor row 10 years ago.
at that moment my parents supplied the free power station :)

Nuclear power station? No, of course not. Zero-point energy module. Much smaller, much more output and can annihilate all matter in the solar system if made to explode :P

If you code it, and code it well, sure. Otherwise I think the devs have more important things to work on.

Not to be rude. I agree. Anyways, how many people do you think would be doing that?

There was a demonstration out on youtube with several mice (controlled by different individuals I'm guessing) on the same massive projector screen. Now that was cool.
