ATI Radeon HD2600 Crash

Post by sellerman122 »

Hello, ive been a spring user for some time now, i know drivers and such are crucial. I am helping a friend set up spring on his pc, he has the latest drivers installed for his ATI HD2600 and spring fails to load.

Each time he starts up a game an box saying:
Update graphics drivers
Needed OpenGL extention(s) not found:
GL_ARB_multitexture GL_ARB_texture_env_combine
GL_ARB_texture_compression
Update your graphic-card driver
graphic card: GDI Generic
OpenGL version GDI Generic

EDIT: I have also tried using driver-wiper to clear out any old driver files and or settings, then a reinstall of the latest driver with not luck.

Specs:
Windows 7 Professional x86
ATI Radeon HD 2600
Pentium 4 3.20Ghz
1GB RAM

attached are a screen-shot of the error message, and infolog.txt

Thanks in advance!

Perhaps the advice in this other recent thread will help:

This is one reason why I always get laptops with nvidia cards in them, because nvidia has one driver to rule them all (so to speak) whereas intel and ati will have various drivers depending on what card you have.

My initial response is that you're 95% boned. My second response is that you should check http://www.guru3d.com and see if you can find a hacked catalyst driver there. Nvidia drivers are constantly hacked on guru3d to support old ass vid cards, so maybe catalyst is as well. I would also be willing to bet that catalyst is perfectly capable of supporting your card, but it's probably left out of the lsit of supported devices that the driver thinks it can do.
