yes... all you do is rename the file with an .sd7 instead of .7z... if it doesn't work something is wrong with the compression method you used to make it a .7z (...possibly the "solid state" thing... don't use that)... I'd recomend you just zip it up with the 3 files in the maps folder in whatever kind of .7z you can manage(not solid state) and upload it with an explaination of whats going wrong... then we can help you figure out what's wrong...
I KNEW IT!!!
just so you know... you don't need to compress your files before testing them in spring, just dump all 3 files in the maps folder and you'll be able to test them...
also... the bad position means the smd file you made defines the player positions outside of the bound of the map you made... I'd sugest setting player 0 at 100,100 or something, and player 1 at 1000x1000 (the minimum map is 1024x1024 I think...) and mouseover the map where you want the start positions to acctually be and write down the numbers that show up in the tooltips so you can make the start positions right in the SMD

Its very easy to create a .sd7 for your maps. You will need
to intall 7-zip util. After you do that, make your map.
In your map folder, make a folder called maps. In that
folder put your map files in your maps folder. If you made a
skybox add that too. Now right click the maps folder and
select add to archive. The 7-zip dialog box will appear
and you need to delect a file name and don't forget to
call it sd7. You will need to know how you use 7-zip
too.
I hope this helps you out.
