Both but If I need to decide:"the one with lots of features?" I would choose.

The lack of either brings an application's usefulness down several orders of magnitude

Which one doesn't bloat up with in-use memory? Leaks are acceptable as long as they are left in swap where they belong.

maybe "what I like" format would better describe my feelings:

what I like about tasclient:
- fast and responsive (subjectively the quickest-responding lobby around)
- advanced battle filtering
- multiline paste (recent addition)
- springdownloader integration

what I like about springlobby:
- ability to make user groups (highlight a set of users using different colors, offline/online notifications, etc.)
- built-in torrent system (doesn't work for me on windows though)

what I don't like about tasclient:
- fragile - likes to crash when some files are gone (tips.txt e.g., guess that was fixed)
- battle ui - got used to it, but it definitely could be better, could use space better
- replay list (haven't looked at it for some time, would like a map/mod/player filter, if it's there - strike this one out)
- connect button - first time I've seen it I had no idea what it does or even if it was clickable, good thing the connect dialog now opens automatically on startup

what I don't like about springlobby:
- sluggish at times - updating battle list and battle UI seems wasteful
- even more fragile than tasclient, albeit for different reasons
- useful options are added, but GUI for them feels out of place at times (e.g. user group UI is cluttered)
- OTOH battle UI feels like there's too much tabs, doesn't have an overview tab which would display most/all important info about a battle on a single tab

Both, and I would like less bugs slowness in map changing/and such. :-) Also, thank you for what we already have :-)

Yes tasclient does this, but springlobby does it much better. Tasclient's groups are... Shaky. It likes to forget often... SO often in fact that I stopped using them.

AF, usability has more than "lack of features and pretty graphics".

For instance there's:
  • Discoverability: how obvious it is to a first time user to find some functionality
  • Intuitiveness: if functionality works in a way that's easy to learn and remember (otherwise the user has to read the manual every time they reuse the app)
  • Consistency: eg search boxes go in the upper right of your application, by convention, the X button closes unless it can minimize to system tray
  • Functionality: A microwave that lets you control how long it will be on is better than one with just an on/off switch
Only rarely are these in conflict.

i have the same groups from the first day i added that feature and it never forgot anything ... the groups are saved when closing the lobby, if you kill it or if it crashes completly it won't save the changes
