Most competitive AI?
I've been gone a very long time due to a number of factors (got hooked on HL2 again, bought Xbox 360 + Dead Rising, C: corrupted Windows and is nearly dead etc.)
What's the toughest AI out? Also, which has good mod compatibility?
On a side note, is AA still around? I see CA and BA, but no AA.

Back in the early AI days they actually organized a little AI competition... pitting AI's against AI's in a battle for supremacy. They spent the preceding week tweaking out their AI's with all new tricks to try to gain a one up in the battle. Of course, there was pretty much only XTA, AA, and a handful of half-ports which just barely ran on Spring. Still, it would be cool to see something like that again spanning across multiple mods.
Last time, I remember the other AIs having a problem with EE's new (at the time) hub system, has this been resolved?1v0ry_k1ng wrote:KAI 0.12, latest version, by kloot, gives a decent game in EE. it plays BA and XTA ok as well. give AIs 100% handicap and play 2v1 ftw
NTAI with the XTA config gives a decent XTA challenge

Well, it depends on the map I guess. On Evergreen Haven Redux v02 I found AAI more competitive, but very slow. KAI expands very quickly and on some maps too much, resulting in too many outposts which are too easy to take out. Thus destroying 2-3 bases with your own full forces is not that hard compared to destroying a very well defended one.
In a late game scenario (1:30 hr) vs AAI on Evergreen Haven I was unable to penetrate the base. He was ARM, me CORE. A force of about 30-50 Goliaths (each 22000 hp as you know) + Sumo and TheCan support were decimated. I had to use 400 Finks to get through to the last part of his base and see where his frigging EMP Stunners were located. Hords of Jethros and Samsons guarded the base entrances, mixed with Sentinels and LLTs. Other than that he uses Stumpys and Mavericks to push forward. Later on Annhilator were deployed. He crushed 3 of my Krogoths before the victory could finally be claimed.
Of course when I play vs AIs the following rules apply: don't use early raids vs AIs, don't harass for the first 30 mins, don't use Silencer/Retaliator resp. Neutron/EMP Stunner during the whole game. Try to beat it, it's just one (!) AI.
And of course AAI is weak, since it does not expand behind mexes + 1 defender per metal spot. So cutting off his resources is too easy. On IslandParadisev7 for example KAI provides a much better challenge: small map, you rely more on metal, only a few reclaimable trees - opposed to EvergreenHaven, where energy stalling won't be problem. And of course both AIs are harder to play on Evergreen due to the trees, which they reclaim very effectively.

I play a lot of test with AAI vs. KAI. KAI tends to have a better start, but AAI manages the economy leagues better. I did a 2v2 on Supreme Battlefield small v2 with 2 AAI vs 2 KAI. KAI built up real fast and got a little more then half way across the land bridge before meeting any meaning full resistence (in the form of a few light tanks and bots). They fought to almost the end of the bridge before hitting an almost endless supply of enemy troops. I noticed that KAI moved in large waves while AAI attacked in a long line coming right out of their factories. AAI had a much better base management, they had many construction units on the facts, pumping out units furiously. They also used Naval and ariel units much better (KAI barley used them at all). AAI managed too push them to the KAI end of the bridge before the game crashed
. I highly doubt KAI would be able to win at that point, they had no one helping build units so they produced at an aganizingly slow pace and AAI just came in contact with their last line of defense.

KAIK 0.13 is better than RAI 0.551 and AAI except on water map (the game never end) because it doesn't make boats or planesGuiltfeeder566 wrote:I play a lot of test with AAI vs. KAI.
