That reminds me of the Necrons from Dawn of War (Warhammer 40k). Looks coolazaremoth wrote:"Belial" - somewhat inspired by the Cyberdemon (Doom).

Battletech's 'Karnov' tilt-rotor transport.
reminds me of:

Re: Random WIP
If you're referring to the low texture resolution and polycount, I should probably mention that they were taken from a game about as old as Total Annihilation is/was.
Re: Random WIP
And with reskins, could look almost good, frankly. They're using 128 skins, with some funky teamcolor treatment. The buildings look a lot better than the mechs, tanks, and stuff like the Karnov because they aren't stuck in a relatively simplistic palette.

Re: Random WIP
That is true, but that particular shade of red on the Karnov is intentional. So anyone who doesnt like it can just not play as the Draconis Combine.Argh wrote:The buildings look a lot better than the mechs, tanks, and stuff like the Karnov because they aren't stuck in a relatively simplistic palette.
bearing in mind that this screenshot is a) a dodgy jpg and b) far more zoomed in than you are likely to be in either MC2 or Spring [and still be able to play effectively] with colours that arent blood red, the textures dont look *that* dated.

Re: Random WIP
I remember the original MechCommander demo taking an unfeasibly large 200mb space and looking visually stunning.
Re: Random WIP
MechCommander 2 was the shit back in the day. The dynamic lighting also looked nice for its time.
Re: Random WIP
That will look very good with a nice texture and some glow.Hoi wrote:

Re: Random WIP
Also, weapons fired from the hardpoints where you installed them, unlike MC1. That was the biggest plus IMO. There's nothing more silly than a madcat pumping 10 missiles and 2 ER PPCs out of a single arm or leg.
Re: Random WIP
Hehe, ever edited the csv files with all the mech variants and whatnot? 100 Clan ER PPCs on a Heavy Attack 'copter, mmm mmm goood.rattle wrote:Also, weapons fired from the hardpoints where you installed them, unlike MC1. 100 Clan Ultra Light ACs was also pretty cool, LR machinegun here we go! In fact, there was no way to prevent someone from doing this in multiplayer. I remember pulling some jumping MadCats out during a clan trial, lulz.

OMG MC1. I remember the ridiculous oil field mission (let's make you go capture scattered explosive oil derricks surrounded by explosive oil tanks against an enemy force four times your size who isn't afraid to fire on them, and if you lose a single derrick you lose). The minelayer was the god weapon, and if you lost a pilot or a Clan ER PPC you restarted the mission immediately.

Re: Random WIP
it is fairly small. 4x4 footprint (i think, maybe 3x3), but realistically only occupies a 1FU wide strip down the middle, minus the wings ofc, which occupy a 1FU strip across the centre.panzeriv2 wrote:Awww, so cute and small...Unless my sarcastic statement is true, the model need more feature.
put into perspective, my commander (one of the largest mobiles) barely fills a 2x2. although it is 43 upspring units high (1 footprint is 16x16 upsprings)...
