Auswaschbar: I tried your version of the file, I got this:

Should the mod folder be empty?


Edit: So i fixed the vista problem.

The first error gamedata/pasre_tdf.lua goes away if you do either of these:
1) Install to just the C:/ not into your Program Files folder
or
2) Go to the C:/Program Files/Spring folder, right click, go to security, and all all users full access to the folder.

Now I still got the preGame error, but i went into my mod folder and saw it was completely blank. Downloaded the Balance Annihilation, and now when I double click spring.exe, it loads up.

Problem, the maps folder is empy, so even though the mod is there, there are no maps. I went to the map folder, nothing there, so i downloaded a map from http://spring.jobjol.nl/. Put it in the map folder.

Run Spring, select mod, select mode, select map, let everything load. Alt-Tab and unblock Window's Firewall, and you are good to go!

I think the confusion may come from in the Install notes and FAQ it doesn't say you HAVE to go get a mod and map to make spring run.

Pxtl: I did it with a clean install, try that (didn't use Auswaschbars)

Auswaschbar: If a clean build works for him, i think your normal build up on the website is working fine!

No, he reinstalled somewhere where he has write access, so its not working fine, he just worked around that.

I still would like to have an infolog and a confirmation if it worked with the new file I posted or not.

New exe works for single-player. Takes an awful long time to boot, but when it gets there it works. Haven't tested multiplayer.

Infolog please (you can quit right after it shows the select-mdo screen, that will contain all I need.) Also, thanks for your efford.

Can't find it. The one in documents\spring is old.

edit: running from SpringLobby, even Singleplayer, leads to connection timeout. Only directly executing Spring.exe works. This bug was also in previous 0.79 flat.

Then please start spring from the commandline. The output you will see is the same which would get written in the infolog, please post this instead.

ends with a crash when I quit. Can't view the messagebox because the OpenGL window makes it impossible to view the message box. Have to close it from task manager. Command prompt is empty.

type this in a dos command line box:

spring.exe >log.txt

then post log.txt. ensure you have write access to the directory you're running spring from.
