small patch - easier to see markers

Ok, thanks. I noticed it was in svn when I did my update a short while ago.Tobi wrote:I hand-applied the patch.
Please could you next time just link to it from the forum and upload it in the bug tracker / anywhere else (rafb.net/paste?). TheCode: Select all
tags mess up tabs (converted to spaces) and insert an extra space in front of each line, making it impossible to machine-apply it. Thanks.
Ah, ok. I'll do that next time.
We are discussing a new "policy" of handling development internally, or at least how to clean up the current situation with lots of inactive people with svn access. Currently I would say for you to get svn access, you need to contribute something big with a patch, so we can see your code quality and that you are actually motivated and not just saying you are :)BTW, no one has answered my question as to how I can earn the right to get commit access to the svn repository? What's the procedure to "prove myself" (beyond contributing a few useful patches and generally showing I'm a nice guy? )
For small updates, you can send patches.
Slightly offtopic, but you may have noticed lack of proper credit for all contributors. Either this site development section needs to be improved, or a better development site has to be made, but I'm still waiting for full feedback from fnordia about that. It is on our todo list, I'll probably make a post about it soon.
PM me if you need more info about spring dev...
I think the whole minimap thing is being revamped in the new gui (see that thread). They are talking about at least using triangles and stuff... you might want to post a request there.hrmph wrote:Could you make something like this for the minimap radar dots?
Although I've never tried it, I understand using "simplified minimap colours" solves the issue somewhat?I find it very annoying when the radar dots are similar in color to the minimap.
I personally don't know what I think of that one... but it sounds new gui related as well, so you might want to post this one there too. Also I've always thought it would be cool to have an option so everyones in game chat will be colored the same as their team color.
I couldn't figure out how to create an "outlined text" so I've tried the next best thing: printing the text 3 times - slightly above and below in black, then in the team colour on top, so having a shadow type effect. This is the result:NOiZE wrote:please make it so that text also gets that black border.

I'm interested in all opinions.

Hmm... if the black fades away against the map colour, wouldn├óÔé¼Ôäót the text be easy to read without the white outline? I though the purpose of this outline was to make it easier to find / read the pointers, not to see the outlining...Forboding Angel wrote:I also think that it would be a good idea to make it have a white AND black outline so that no matter what map you are on you can see it plain as day.
IMHO it might be too much with both black and white outlining... I think the current variant looks great

Some teamcolors are really dark... like black for instance...Zydox wrote:Hmm... if the black fades away against the map colour, wouldn├óÔé¼Ôäót the text be easy to read without the white outline? That's true, but for that one I think the borders should be white or some shade of grey. Basically I think every team colour should be able to have its border colour assigned to it, so it'll be used for all places where a border around the players colour is needed, though I├óÔé¼Ôäóm not sure if that├óÔé¼Ôäós possible or not├óÔé¼┬ªSwiftSpear wrote:Some teamcolors are really dark... like black for instance...

In the next version of spring teamcolors will be chosen from a pallet of 24^2 possible colors, so it isn't really an option to assign a specific border for each teamcolor. We could have an algorithm do it most likely... but that may be more difficult then just doing a dual outline.Zydox wrote:That's true, but for that one I think the borders should be white or some shade of grey. not really, at the end of the day there will be a max and min. you take the inverse color as a border. With only one exception, midrange greys otherwise you'd be good with an inverse color.SwiftSpear wrote: In the next version of spring teamcolors will be chosen from a pallet of 24^2 possible colors, so it isn't really an option to assign a specific border for each teamcolor.
