WW2 was one of the best boosts America could ever get to its economy. It was the definite needed reason to lift it out of the remains of the depression.
Agreed.

So far we are still TRYING to prove Saddam killed less than a thousand people in a couple of occasions. The two million figure divulged by some is pure utter bullshit. The war has killed hundreds of thousands, the sanctions applied since the gulf war completely messed up the countries infrastructure. Compare Iraq under Saddam in the 80's, a prosperous Middle East nation to the current hellhole it is now. Hell, compare it in 10 years; it will be just as fucked if not worse. The war accomplished absolutely NOTHING to the Iraqi people. There├óÔé¼Ôäós no point being free to wear skirts if your children are starving, your husband was shot and the rest of your family blown up by those so smart bombs.
That's the reason we are still in iraq; to fight the people who would rather that iraq be the hellhole. If we stay the course in Iraq, we will win. Or perhaps we should just leave and let them handle their own business.

And you really think the government will let the public know of its secret operations? Are you really that naive to believe that if the government was really tapping into normal people's numbers they would come out and tell you about it? How do you think they find "KNOWN AL QUIDA NUMBERS " in first place? Do you honestly think that your government, or ANY government would reveal that they are really tapping their domestic numbers, generating huge public outcry and deterring terrorists from making domestic calls?
Are you really nieve enough to believe what the media tells you? We havn't been attacked again. This would be one of the reasons.

Politics is fun, i said that before...
Meh, but a lot of times it causes unnecessary bad feelings between people.

Indeed. Hitler jewes and WW2, now those were the days. Hitler was all about do and not just all talk and he surely never «coulnd't make up he's mind».Forboding Angel wrote:...
Please, the first time we get a president since reagan that is'nt all talk, and everyone hate him. Perhaps you would prefer idiots who can't make up their minds?
Last i have heard, quite some time ago by now, there had died 140 000 people in Iraq as a direct consequence of the invasion. [sarcasm] Ho, wait, they died because the weapons of mass destruction present on Iraq exploded. [/sarcasm]Forboding Angel wrote:...
Think about it people! We had liberated a totalitarion society from the clutches of PURE EVIL! Doesn't that mean anything to you? We are fighting for justice and against indecency in the world, and IRAQ has a democratic government! Doesn't that excite anyone? ...
I have three words for you:

Ya know paul, this is a discussion. Keep it that way. Simply because we have differing views, do not attack me. Not everything has to be personal dude. If you are going to do nothing but make personal attacks, just leave.
BTW according to CNN's special reports page...

I would be interested to know where the number 140,000 came from. Mind sharing your sources?CNN wrote: There have been 2,591 coalition deaths, 2,382 Americans, two Australians, 104 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, three Danes, two Dutch, two Estonians, one Fijian, one Hungarian, 26 Italians, one Kazakh, one Latvian, 17 Poles, two Salvadoran, three Slovaks, 11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians in the war in Iraq as of April 22, 2006, according to a CNN count.

You may have seen it as a personal attack but it wasn't. Far from it (even though i only comented about you and recured to sarcasm).Forboding Angel wrote:...
I have heard the information on a documentary, i think. Of course the information is possible to be wrong.
Anyway, can't you see what is wrong with those news???? What is, basically, wrong with the whole story!?
X americans dead, y europeans, et cetera, et cetera, but not a single mention to how many iraquians have died like if they weren't worth a shit.
Or does in your mind only the non-iraqui deaths count thus you not believing in the number i presented? If that is the truth you want to belive in then so be it, only "2,591" people died in Iraq (of course i will still argument that you are wrong).

I could care less how many of saddams armed forces/insurgents died. They wantied to fight for tyranny, they were wrong, they paid for it with their lives. People die in wars, that is the harsh truth.PauloMorfeo wrote:You may have seen it as a personal attack but it wasn't. Do you really give a flying frack how many germans died in ww2? I don't. I personally could care less because if those people had not died I would be referring to my girlfriend as Fraline right now.
Look if we do not preemptively take care of these things before htey get to a head we as a nation are screwed. History repeats itself, I would prefer not to have another 9/11 attack, and I would really prefer not to have another pearl harbor.
With the situation in iran, are we as a nation nieve enough to think that they will not persue nuclear weapons? This is a huge threat to usm because they have always hated us for protecting our ally, israel. I don't want to go into war in iran, and I'm sure no one else does either, however, if it becomes necessary, then I support it wholeheartedly.
I love how people from the outside of the US are so willing to comment on everything as if they live here and are involved personally and emotionally. You are not. Maybe on the other side of the fence, but to call Bush an idiot, who the hell are YOU to point any finger at anyone? Keep your nose where it fucking belongs. Thanks.
I was thinking something simmaler, just less angry. I think it has something to do with humain nature and the love of finding fault with things. I try to look on the positive side of life. Actually there are more GOOD things about the world then it seems.love how people from the outside of the US are so willing to comment on everything as if they live here and are involved personally and emotionally. Both sides of the arguement both have their good points and their bad points. Yes, Saddam was evil, possibly making WMD's. America invaded, and captured him. Thats good. But the people that have been killed is not good. Saddam had to be removed from power, im not disputing that, but people dying is never good. Be they American, Iraqi, or from anywhere else, they are still dead. Some of them might have been in the Iraqi army, fighting for Saddam, but how many of them would have been conscripted? Forced to join from poverty? Joined because of the evil Americans invading. Dont forget that the Iraqi media would have demonised America and everyone else. You dont praise the invaders.
If America were to leave now, things would go bad very quickly. But you cant deny that things are not bad there now. Sure, they might be better in some parts than they were when Saddam was in power, but what about the places where terrorists are still bombing? Where Americans have tight, unforgiving curfews. Where the battles have destroyed whole towns? There is no easy answer to any of this. The Bush administration has made mistakes, but things would probably be worse if it didnt do anything at all.
But anyway, what use is arguing over the internet going to do? I doubt this thread is going to change anyones views of the whole issue. Go out there and protest/support publicly. Sitting here arguing at each other will not get anything done.

You invaded countries and you're complaining about us having an opinion?nfekti0n wrote:I love how people from the outside of the US are so willing to comment on everything as if they live here and are involved personally and emotionally. Plus, you have an opinion of other countrys rulers (ie Saddam), and have made that very obvious (ie invading). So, by your reasoning, who is it that should really keep thier noses out?Das Bruce wrote:You invaded countries and you're complaining about us having an opinion?nfekti0n wrote:I love how people from the outside of the US are so willing to comment on everything as if they live here and are involved personally and emotionally. *I* invaded a country? *I* dictated what should happen in the middle east?
Think again.
My point is very simple: You can talk all the shit you want, but what does it really mean? What does it equate to in the end? Nothing? !CORRECT! So why bother? What do you gain from it? What change do you initiate? None? !CORRECT! So what problems do you solve by whining? What our country does is what our country does. You can talk shit about what it does all you want, but what foundation do you stand on? You speak as if you hold the ability to dictate what our country should do. Our country will do what our country will do regardless of what others have to say about it. So why bicker? What do you accomplish? Do you feel better? Did you get it off of your chest?
Perhaps you should consider looking into group therapy sessions, if that's the case.

Charged with emotion? Not sure where you picked that up from. It surely was not my intention to deliver any emotion at all with what I said in my previous message. My singular point was made explicitly clear in my last post, I even went along with all these other people do so as to prove it. And I know what I say won't stop people from saying what they want to say about what's happening -- I never thought for a SECOND that it would. I used their method to demonstrate my exact point, but because there is no fault in speaking your opinion, no harm was done (IMO) -- I was just voicing MY opinion, something people around these parts seem to do very well, but the moment some outsider does, they get insanely asshurt as if their territory has been imposed upon.
I lol'd IRL.
