Generally speaking we are willing to warn you like 3 million times and be really nice about things even when we're dealing with someone clearly out of line, but if you show that you aren't willing to try to act appropriately you will be banned... until you ask to be unbanned and indicate that you've learned your lesson. I suppose in extreme cases someone could be perminently banned even if they protest against the ban, but it would take a fair bit for moderation staff to acctually come to the point where we universally agree to leave someone banned perminently, because a ban from client is effectively a ban from spring, and we really don't want to not allow people play the game if an alternitive solution is possible.
talking like youre a moderator already :P. personally i think moderators are not necessary they themselves will be the victims of troublemakers willing to flame. so i think less moderators -> less flames, annoyances.
contrary to common belief anarchy is not chaos.

I've been a moderator for about a week now Imperator. Hence why I made the client moderators on call thread.

All you people are talking about needing more mods and better mods and, but what we really need is to give the cilent a mute button, think about it, easy shutting up, and you dont even need to have a mod on. if someone is pissing you off, you can just mute em and forget about em. Simple.

Or people could simply grow up and stop acting like spoiled children when online, but... :?

Seriously though, I think Lordo is on the right track. A "Mute" or "Ignore" option would be a nice addition and prevent some of the flame wars that go on.

ive said it before and will say it again: moderators will do NO good for the lobby since they provoke agression in a very special way not being experienced before. some guys just love to pick on moderators. in my opinion moderators are like windows, you work to fix problems that you created yourself and have absolutely no value in such a familiar community it just creates anger towards once respected persons. if you think that it is necessary to censor offending language like fecal holocaust or something the like i just point out that the internet has far better opportunities for 10 year old kids to satisfy their hunger for shitporn or whatever they wanna see or talk. and even if someone like that enters the lobby i just sit back see how someone like that gets ignored for good. thats what they dont expect : being ignored and that makes them leave much quicker than a moderator rushing up and threatening to ban kick or whatever. please consider that people of this sort usually are attention whores who like to gain attention by spamming insults but as we are all old enough to stand above that we surely can ignore them instead of giving them what they want - attention.

Provoking moderators is a great way to get a quick ban. Before moderators if you provoked someone they would just fight with you, and then #main would become a big flamy mess that would probably find it's way to the forums and then become a large comunity issue.

I think it's rediculous to say that people just wouldn't bother provoking others while there was no moderators around but now they will suddenly start when we have sufficient moderator staff, and the trend in the comunity has shown that more and more.
