New weaponeffects in the future?
Hi
I think of some new weaponeffects or at least some better looking ones.
1. can we have different explosions in the future? Different colors or completely different ones (i mean different ones in the same mod)
2. new lightning effect (this one looks odd for me) where you can define the color, the thickness and the variation of the lightning (if there is only one kink or 10 or more)
3. some new plasma effects where you can define the color and it would be cool when you could define the fom (if it shall be a ball, an egg, a cone or something else)
4. different smokecolors and smoketypes. Atm you can only make a trail of smoke, but i would like that you can have a cloud of smoke. In different colors that would be cool (accid cloud or plasmacloud) after an explosion
5. the vlaunch should be able in every axis (i think of a launcher who starts fireing rockets from its sides but they should first fly a bit straight to left and right)
6. general changes like accuracy for vlaunch weapons and dropped weapons or turnable beams.

According to physics I doubt a plasma projectile could be anything like a cone, only stretched spheres etc.....
How about the afterglow from weapons damage, a prime example beign ion cannons firing in homeworld and the afterglow on a ship. That and other after damage effects, such as burnign ember textures etc, soemthign akin to the after-explosion decals SJ introduced, but on units

But the thickness should be editable.

I am perfectly aware of why you said that and the physics behidn it.
A plasma projectile can exist, but there are several parts:
- The creation of a plasma weapon if done would be useless because ti would be very easy to make an incoming projectile loose coherence and spread out and loose containment.
- The energy required to hold it together would be a much more potent weapon in itself than the plasma its holding
- Without overcoming the amazing technological hurdle of holding plasma balls together under gigapascals fo rpesure to keep containment, one can fire them at extreme high velocity but that is only useful for research and other scientific purposes and would be useless in weapons, save as a fancy largescale firework used in orbital heights and ;large quantities
So yes a plasma projectile is possible, and a plasma weapon can be created, but if you're using them as a weapon you wont get very far, and you're better off with particle cannon based weaponry such as lasers, neutron guns, or those phazer weapons they're researching in america (stuns opponent, uses projected energy, not sure what particle it is though, could be protons/hydrogen etc I'd have to look into it)

Mods don't listen to us, they claim that their new code will solve all our problems.
I requested a way to have custom muzzleflares, a muzzleflare scale so you can have big balls of fire coming out of tank barrels.
I also wanted a way to make textures that contained alpha so I can have translucent parts on aircraft cockpits, muzzleflares, etc.
But none of my plees were heard...

i think the mods hear us all. The problem (or advantage?) is that they work for free and that Spring is some kind of hobby for them. Also I think that they arent as good in programming as a "real" developer is, so all we have to do is to wait untill they have the time to develope all the cool stuff we want
or untill they get the skill to develope it. But writing our suggestions is the best way to support a better spring i think, so dont give up :)
Google for "Chris Han" in combination with "Linux Kernel" if you really think Spring development lacks skill.
Still, the free and hobby part is true.
^^, they're also faster at bringing out patches too. In recent research, ti was shown that bugs in opensource software where patched 80% faster than in closed source commercial software. A prime example would be firefox versus IE, where some flaws went unpatched for 120+ days, yet most firefox exploits where patched within the following 2 weeks.
