I use Radeon HD 6770M with 2011 driver (can't find a newer one).

run spring.exe, goto edit, set AdvMapShading to 0 ?

Hi,
I have a Radeon 6800, and either I had 'all white map' or crash.
Setting AdvMapShading to 0 solved it for me.

same, i get either white map or crash.

unfortunately without adv map shading unit shadows on map don't work. it worked in 94.

a real pity because I really dig the oscillating shadows from the dynamic sun.

You might try turning advanced map shading back on, and instead do

AllowDeferredMapRendering = 0
AllowDeferredModelRendering = 0

in your spring settings to see if that changes anything.
