But $200K expensive?
The rest should just go to polishing the main game. Or hookers and blow, well, point being there's always somewhere to sink extra money without bloating the feature list too.

They should hire Two Steps from Hell. :D (That would probably cost more than 200k...)

2.1 million isn't all too much though. It's less than 1/10 of average budget of modern big multi-platform games. Or, 1/5 of single-platform game. Also, some games have had budgets hovering at around 150 million, like Battlefield 3.

Consider that if developing time is 2 years and your developer team has 30 people, then the mere salaries alone, with taxes, insurances, and whatever added, are already costing around 3 millions for the whole developing time.

But, as this game may not be aiming to be exactly the new best-seller, I'm sure 2.1 millions is enough to pull out a high quality product.

If it's going to be well balanced and the battles are finishable in under 2 hours, I'm all for trying it out!

Uber is an established company...
Why do you assume they will not invest any money in the game?
It's possible they wont but It's also possible they just used kickstarter to help em out and assess the market for the game they wanted to make.
They have 45k supporters.
Thats 45k people that will surely play this game..
If i had to guess I'd say they will invest their own money into the project as well.

The real interesting thing is, that for the first time in ages, game companys keep there ips again. So something like bullfrog or origin, little empires, making money from longtime series suddenly would be possible again.

Also unemployed pimps (EA im lookin at you)

Not really, because if next year PA is profitable and Uber Ent is in need a cash, first thing they'll do is sell their IP.

I always wondered, what happens with the IP once they are carnivored by EA? Is there a huge winecellar, were rightscrolls lie to rot, and from time to time a CEO travells through the halls- murmuring silent "This, this is true richtches, bitches. Having the best, and not sharin with the rest..." ?
