Re: BA Chili Theme
I said it before, I'll say it again, when I started it, I made it clear that I was only going to take it on as a TEAM effort. Which I had no team so I stopped. Since then quantum has taken it over.knorke wrote:the tower defense.
where is it.
Oh look things I have been doing which actually benifit the community:
feature placer
sandbox mode
map options
blah blah still more useful than these guys who are doing diddle..

Re: BA Chili Theme
BUMP!!
Anyone ever come up with anything? I was just working (the research part) on some theme work for chilli and came across this and it looks to have faded into offtopic...
Anyway I still don't have my coding where I'd like but I'm pretty nimble around GIMP with art assets, so I'm taking a minor break on lua and want to make things look prettier (hopefully). Is they're still any interest in updating BA/BAR's gui?

I presume the main thing you are working on are the new frame borders? I don't think they are very "ba".

Re: BA Chili Theme
For now yea, I just want to get a look down. But I do agree I'm not even close to it yet, I'm just drafting . Any suggestions on style etc.?
Re: BA Chili Theme
I am hard pressed to make a suggestion. Part of me wants to tell you rip off the ta ui. Another part wants to suggest you do random paneling bits based on the TA teamcolor panels ba uses.
of course most ba players tend to be of the hardcore gaming groups... so maybe NO skin is a good idea for them. As hard core people want as little obtrusive detail as possible.

here's what inspired that shot (from earlier in this topic)Beherith wrote: I would be very happy if you did a metallic type, grey, non glowy, rather war torn skin. What would be even nicer, if some elements of the GUI inherited the players teamcolor.
Yea I was thinking along the same line. Its very hard to make a war torn metallic type skin that's still unintrusive. But I was trying to kind of go for a simple look for the windows always on the screen and a metallic look for temporary menus/tooltips. I also have this in the back of my mind.smoth wrote:I am hard pressed to make a suggestion. Part of me wants to tell you rip off the ta ui. That old cremus hud is doable but no with those chili widgets. they would need to be heavily edited.

I figured as much, I've been looking in to them and when I get some time I'll see if I can come up with anything. Then whether or not I get anywhere I'll see if I can get anything looking good in BA.
Re: BA Chili Theme
well for the skin I can see if I can whip you up a cremus skin for chili if that is what you want.

I'm pretty sure I can do that, but if it give's me to much trouble I'll let you know.smoth wrote:well for the skin I can see if I can whip you up a cremus skin for chili if that is what you want.
Any particularly good resources I should read into before I dive head first into chilli?
Re: BA Chili Theme
well for making a skin, just do a new skin directory.
Re: BA Chili Theme
It needs to be hard and metallic and high-tech. That means large contrast differences, gradients, glowy bits, edge highlighting.

Re: BA Chili Theme
since screens tend to get wider faster then they get higher i would like a ui that takes more space on the left OR right side of the screen preferably not both.
