BTW, fyi, the ta community has never been a nice one. The ta community (since 97) has been horrible. Never have I participated in a community this bad. Ya know, maybe agorm has a point. Exactly what would you do if we mappers modders etc, had FU pull all files that we had uploaded and stopped developing anything for spring? If that were the case spring wouldn't have a community left. And you for some reason think we don't have a right to be upset when people post destructive criticism of our work? Fuck you. The only reason Im still interested in spring is the fact that recently there has been alot more new maps and mods surfacing. I was kinda getting bored with the older maps and xta - not that I dont appreciate that stuff, its awesome, but I just played it waaaay to much hehe -
The fact that all coders, modders and mappers spend their own time creating this stuff asking for nothing but consructive feedback in return, is fantastic...

Well, I'd like to take this moment to apologize for lashing back at Smoth for his negative statement regarding my map almost just prior to the inception of this thread. It was the first map I released, and I would be displaying incredible hubris to believe I could have done no wrong with my first map. The insinuations towards him that I retaliated with were also in poor taste. Again, my apologies for acting as indignant as I did.
On a side note: Ignore Kixxe. Whether he realizes it or not, he's just flamebaiting. Acknowledging his posts will only encourage him to continue

And yes, I do have TS and Vent. I dont have photoshop or anything of the sort. I did see GIMP in the wiki tutorial, but I have never used it or any of the other programs mentioned within.

And just think, all this energy on flames, noobs, and maps will be revisited when the new map format is ready. Maps will be a simple series of base textures, blendmaps and the usual metal and heightmaps.
Maybe I've been around long enough to know where to place this sort of stuff in my grand list of priorities.
I'm at the point now I just skip over Kixxe's posts. If you can't take the time to at least communicate well, I am not going to take the time to decipher what is there.

Yes, zone was a very harsh place. Clans were pretty much a blood pact. I went through a few clans only to find one that is like a "hang out" than anything else. I had a ton of fun in that clan till I quit ota (187 foreber!) But yes, I do know many of the ota players that play on spring. I changed my name from zone to here due to the fact that I KNOW many ppl hated me or others thought lowly of me and it just sucked. Which is why I started fresh on spring :)
If someone made a map that was extremely good, it was played often. If someone made a very crappy map, people would go outta their way to show you how craptastic it is by spamming posts or reviews or comments whatever.... Zone had its high points, but it died for a reason. (We got in trouble so many times on zone. On many occasions, sysops were called to the TA room on zone cuz things got...."outta hand")
Still, I learned all I know from zone, both good and bad.
Don't even ask how cheaters were treated on zone (or even suspected ones w/o proof)

Seriously if someone says something dumb try to not flame them. Its a hard thing to resist, i know, but i've been to a web site where a SINGLE post by ONE annoying SOB with a huge mouth can set off a huge 200 + post flame war.
Jeeze those guys where a load of touchy jerks! Compaired to them everyone on this forum is swell. Most are smart, funny and contstructive. I actually think i do the LEAST for the community! I dont map, i dont mod...hell i dont even play all that much (damn you screwy internet connection!!!!!!!).

Ironic I find this thread when I was going to create one of my own. I've posted two threads now simply trying to work with the community to enhance TASpring and all I've pulled away from it is...I don't want to fucking work with this community.
Honestly, Forboding, you have some awesome maps and, while you may insult me for hours for my consistent comm rushing ( :D no hard feelings :D ), I'll always respect you for that. The same can be said for NoiZe ( though, less of the insults...I never heard them from you either though ). Caydr, imo, has done an awesome job on AA yet I constantly see people insult the mod, his development of it, the mechanics, etc, etc. I see the same shit about XTA, SWTA, Gundam A, TLL... and you know what, I think they're all fun mods - irregardless of the different game balance some people might want.
Now, I've created three, imo, good GroupAI's so far - metal placer, upgrader (mex => moho), more complex formation ai, and several proof of concepts. I'm probably not going to release any of them though, because of all these trolls. I've simplified the interface and re-written large parts of the available documentation to simplify entering AI development for other people - again, probably not going to release it due to so many shitheads. I've spent a lot of time learning the source code well enough to answer even intricate questions regarding mechanics now, but I doubt that'll ever do much to help anyone else because of the community that currently subsists here.
I'm not here to say how to fix it. I'm not going to say it needs to be fixed. If trolling is your thing, hey, keep it up. I just think it is going to continue seriously hurting this project. Meanwhile, I'll keep playing the game and avoid interacting with these forums more than necessary.
