will this ever happen?
questions 2:
is there a free win64 compiler?
if there is I'd like a link
Spring 64bit for windows?

Re: Spring 64bit for windows?
Spring 32 bit works fine under 64 bit windows.
Spring doesnt use so much ram as to justify the work involved in making a 64 bit release.

Re: Spring 64bit for windows?
The only compelling reasons at the moment I can think of are:
As such, most of these are of no consequence to the playerbase at large and those developing for it.
- Installing in program files rather than program files(x86)
- Compatibility with 64bit Java
- Possibly mapping, though I would have to appeal to someone with greater knowledge on the current state of the art (e.g. Beherith and Tobi)

Uh it does for certain maps :)Beherith wrote:Spring 32 bit works fine under 64 bit windows.

http://springfiles.com/spring/spring-ma ... nepicshore This 128x6 map is unplayable for 32bit versions.
Re: Spring 64bit for windows?
I have gotten lots of out of memory errors on the maps I like to play so I have stopped playing Spring RTS. I would start playing again if they had a 64-bit version that could address more memory and not error out!

Re: Spring 64bit for windows?
Lol, what maps? I would like to hear this because as far as I know my map is the only one that craps out

SUP, 300+ fps.
I suspect it is a spring setting/your hardware problem. Please post the infolog.

Re: Spring 64bit for windows?
I actually played a 8v8 game on epic (40x40 iirc) a few months ago, and no one ran out of memory.
I guess eventually 32 bit apps will stop being well supported by OSs and everything will have to change, but I don't see that happening any time soon.

Should you still disagree with the above posters, please research mingw64 cross compiling. See the lin Tobi posted further up
