Weapon Effects

Post by Runecrafter »

I would like to make a request for Spring to support 2D bitmaps for weapon effects ( ie. render type) I don't know coding very well but from what I can tell it would not be to hard to implement it.

Here are a few screenies of some weapon effects I made.

the devs currently are too lazy to implement stuff like this, and they want to script the weapons now to my extreme displeasure...

Replace lazy with, working hard to merge linux and windows versions, and you've got it.

Once the spring is platform independant, we gain about 4 devs who up till now have been working only on porting spring to linux.

Yeah, this would be neat, but a linux port is a big step forwards.

indeed, we should wait for features like this untill the ports come out. Once Spring runs on other platforms, the community will be bigger and more devs show up.

Maybe their hard work will be futile when osX86 shows up.
But I have no id about a timeframe, nor a clue if osX86 will be able to fully run Windows programs.

OS X x86 version is just what it says, an x86 version. Just as capable fo runngin spring as the PowerPC version or a linux build, just switch from an X86 compiler to a powerPC compiler and us a powerPC binary.

Either that or get something akin to wine running under it, afterral can you compile a windows program's source unedited to PowerPC and natively run it under OS X? I thought an Apple OS wouldnt have a Native Win32 API.

If ti compiles under Linux it'll compile for any X86/PowerPC based system that supports OpenGL.

Now I've read that I'm not sure anymore I'll ahev to look into it.

However:

ReactOS
The ReactOS® project is dedicated to making Free Software available to everyone by providing a ground-up implementation of a Microsoft Windows® XP compatible operating system. ReactOS aims to achieve complete binary compatibility with both applications and device drivers meant for NT and XP operating systems, by using a similar architecture and providing a complete and equivalent public interface.

Bumping old or inactive ("dead") threads is occasionally called "necroposting", and the bumping posts referred to as "frankenposts".

Instead of bumping, how about you try using the personal messenging service within this forum. Same goes for the posers bumping this useless crap to scold the newb.
