Re: women
far as that goes, the big bang theory looks like about the best transfer over there is
I don't live in a dorm though and my college is really shitty. the next move I want to make is out on my own - I'm an unemployed engineering student, in a small town.
edit: I'm getting nervous at the length of this thread... shut down imminent?

Yeah, start playing MtG to meet girlsSinbadEV wrote:I don't know if this is good advise but give it a try;scrotum wrote:the above comment - getting ass kicked or whatever in RL, doesnt apply to guys as big as me :)
again spring sydrome = i spent way to much time in the game and like WOW does for some people it made me anti social everywhere but online.
since this is my community, how do I get out, lol
or at least balance things out. I'm going to some young adult events at church for a start this week
this and other games have a way of disconnecting you from people. Plus the last 8 months of school were strictly books, no fun
Use the backdoor from geeky to social... transfer you RTS gaming lust to a more social habit like Magic the Gathering or Board Gaming... and do so at public places like pubs or gaming stores... Also, lot's of chicks are into Manga or Anime... see if there are any clubs on campus for these types of things.

Re: women
lol "i dont know if this is good advice"
anyways.
you just need to do small things to build your confidence. do you have friends in your classes? (just wondering how anti-social you actually are)
the church thing seems a good idea, but again, simply going guarantees nothing... you'll have to put in work regardless in terms of social interaction and stuff like that (not that its "work". but defenitely you'll still have to change your mindset/approach a little bit)
why not talk to girls at the gym? my buddy is always meeting girls at his; granted, most of them are filth, but its a start
where do you go to school
anyways.

Re: women
red river college
plenty of girls at the gym. Friends with everyone in my class, went drinking with them lots, don't see them during the summer though everyone split. Wide geographic area as well. Again, at the gym its very busy lots of people around and mostly its just hard to keep an interesting conversation going.
thinking of straight up asking them out after getting a name, lol

Re: women
Ahhh... but they are twice as likely to be healthy/active/self confident filth then the general population... I'm sure they've done studies but I picked these statistics out of my bum.KaiserJ wrote:why not talk to girls at the gym? my buddy is always meeting girls at his; granted, most of them are filth, but its a start
Re: women
and why not? maybe not just "whats your name... lets go for coffee" but there are much worse things you could do; just make sure not to be discouraged if a girl turns you down (also don't do it with every girl you meet :D)scrotum wrote:thinking of straight up asking them out after getting a name, lol
not sure about red river college; i've never been to winnipeg... but i'm for sure familiar with people from the program disappearing when classes are off; i went to college in toronto and most of my classmates lived outside the city, and the ones who were "close" were still super far away... one of the tradeoffs to live in such a nice country i suppose, the travel distances are huge
however, if you're a local, and don't live in a dorm, make sure to mention that to girls; its like an instant in, they can come to your place and get hammered with you etc. rather than just lurking in a somewhat supervised area
sinbad he's not looking for a wife, just to interact more with girls and raise his confidence... for me personally, if a girl is stuck up when i talk to her, its like "good, i'm dodging a bullet by never speaking to her again". practice makes perfect
Re: women
My point was to get back into being sociable... also, don't listen to me, I think sex outside of the context of marriage is wrong and married the first girl I had a serious relationship with... and she stalked me for a little while... but here's my 3 step plan to getting a girl:Johannes wrote:Yeah, start playing MtG to meet girls
Talk to everyone... introduce yourself, find out their major and what they think of it... keep talking if it works otherwise move on.
Once you get over the embarrassment of talking to girls, talking to the girl you actually ARE wanting to hit on will come naturally.
One of the girls you talk to will fall for you and start stalking you... instead of thinking this is weird, ask her out on a date... ensure you watch the entire run of "The Wonder Years" to ensure you know what NOT to do to win Winny Coopers heart and you should be fine.
Re: women
You will get your date, and then fix her w-lan, defrag her maschine and then be recomended as exploitable to other girls. Loaf on first sight, thats how its called.
You could just simply accept, that creatures acting upon hardwired behaviour patterns (and even proud on those), that havent changed over centurys, might not be attracted to other creatures who have changed alot in two decades, no longer fullfilling any of the criterias in the search patterns.
Yeah, its not cool to be the devils advocate, but well, you ve made up your mind already, so there you go, try and error, till sucksess or epic phail. But why asking here, of all places? Why?

its like getting investment tips from someone who lost everything in a pyramid scheme; like getting moustache grooming tips from a woman;SinbadEV wrote:I think sex outside of the context of marriage is wrong and married the first girl I had a serious relationship with... and she stalked me for a little while
the perspective from within platos cave

its not all that unusual, this forum is populated by a lot of intellectual/engineery males who may or may not have social problems/anxieties about talking to the womenfolkBut why asking here, of all places? Why?

its a gateway effect; who knows, maybe this is the first time he asked ANYONE about something like this. surely there has been worthwhile advice from many (and from differing perspectives, and amusing devils advocation included)
also if he hadn't asked i'd never have known about garwar
Re: women
I could post more crap but I only have a handful of drawings. I had near 100ish drawings like that from an rpg I made based on vampires d10 system of rules. I only had a few scanned and lost all of those drawings. Then in 05 my apt burned down taking out portfolio #2.
After that I did random art for a fantasy rpg player and occasional doodles in my notebooks. So yeah, I'd post more embarrassing art from my teenage years but I feel it is too much about me.

WTF smoth... I was over that gag like 2 days ago... I hope you didn't actually think I believed you and panda to be the same person because then I WILL start to have question your sanity.smoth wrote:I could post more crap but I only have a handful of drawings. Also: to be clear... my trivializing of your modeling was also part of the "smoth and panda are the same person" gag... I think what you do is awesome and I'm sorry if you felt I was insulting your work in any way.
Re: women
Nah, I think the thread is a horrible one started by an arrogant guy who rhinks how much weight he lifts qualifies him as somehow more worthwhile than others all while deriding the very creatures he wants to be with. I enjoyed your derail so I entertained it. If anything you should apologize to the op for derailing his thread.
Re: women
wait... smoth and panda arent the same person...? all these years i was wrong... im interested, how did you find that out?SinbadEV wrote:WTF smoth... I was over that gag like 2 days ago... Bah... it was destined for derailment anyways because he smurf-posted in a way that was purposefully meant to make him look like a bot.smoth wrote:Nah, I think the thread is a horrible one started by an arrogant guy who rhinks how much weight he lifts qualifies him as somehow more worthwhile than others all while deriding the very creatures he wants to be with. That said, the real goal of my derail was to bring you and panda into the discussion... which only nominally worked out so

What surprises me is how the topic keeps getting BACK on the rail so well... it's like the forum is actually populated by people who care about these things or something.

My theory is you smoth and panda are really
