Best thing you can do, is just not beeing desperate- chat with girls you dont want a relationship. They are just humans... although sometimes really boring- and in a sick way even moar anxious than the shyest nerd. Never met males of the species who gave so much about what others might think of them, over there cloths and so on...

certainly a strange thread to find on spring forum; but then again, we're all "nerds" here, and its probably not a bad place to look for advice about being shy/having trouble chatting up girls

assuming you aren't missing something key here (stinking of boiled onions, dirty shoes, rapper voice) then you don't really have much to worry about in terms of "am i good enough to get a GF" because there will always be many people in a worse position than you

so then i guess i'd break it down a bit...

- it IS strange to just wander up to a girl and start hitting on her. the best thing to do is wait for an opening (even to say thank-you for holding a door or something like that) or just to be social with everyone, not just the girls... that way, when you DO chat up a girl and she goes to ask her friends about you, they might have a good impression.
- don't worry too much about "why is this not working". it seems to be a rule of the universe that the less you try for something like this that the more likely it will be to happen. don't try too hard or over-analyze.
- if you fail, lose her number, erase her from your brain. not everything is meant to be, and if you dwell on past failures, you'll never move ahead.

how fast to move? however fast you like really. if you get a girls number, don't call her for a few days. after a first date, don't call for a few days. theres a fine line between desperation and disinterest that you must wobble along, and the best thing to do is just try and read the situation

what do you feel are your weaknesses in this matter? surely there must be some concerns, even small ones, if you're worried enough to come on here and ask...

yah read some advice here. To be brutally honest, and here it is, I need to get laid. A friend of mine from college set me up with a 6/10, and I was working at it, then we went to a party and had a political discussion and things just went straight downhill. So as far as trial and error, religion and politics are going to have to stay out. I'm too convicted in my beliefs.

The other thing is, somebody told me to start ugly and get used to talking to them. That's sort of what I did, then I realized I can easily talk to 9/10 and have about as much success with them as the uglies.

I just came back from the gym where I made a bit of small talk with a few girls. The first one was in high school (ffs!) which happens to me a lot. The other one was a hot foreigner who kept looking at me, so I asked her her name and thats as far as I got

there were a couple other opportunities, but the conversation didn't even exist. I just have no idea how to strategize and what to talk about.

gimme a spring analogy that might work :) thats the only strategy I understand...

I would actually say 6/10's are likely harder, since my experience with them has shown a lot of them just sit around playing WOW since they are competing with more attractive females in RL that make them feel worse about themselves.

It's hard for me to pretend I like looking at them when dating... y'know?

the whole issue of finding a skank, or even a girlfriend is something that should be very easy right. But you understand that this community is kind of my thing, I am a big time nerd, instead of making some moves socially at a younger age I spent the time on my computer

maybe some of you have experience in almost backtracking in a sense of the word, because its hard for me to pretend I am experienced which is what girls generally expect of me at this age, when I have almost none.

so my way to proceed is to try get out as much as possible? its just that I am feeling a lot of pressure for results at the moment

I've considered this, but it IS my standard. She has to be nice looking. as I said before, if I am forcing myself to date her she senses that right quick, and thats dishonesty... would make her feel even worse since I know I'm going after something below my capability

I'm cool with a gamer chick but not a WOW chick. I'm a good rating too. Bigger than 9/10 guys, there are only a few pro bodybuilders at the gym bigger. I couldn't take an ugly chick like that home, to see my friends or even really boast about it... all I could say is ''i got the job done'' you know
