Do you guys (and girls?) think that the TA sites should carry SupCom stuff?

It's not "technically" TA2, but it is being made by the same person with almost the same team as the original, and it looks, after all, super sweet.

Sure supcom sites are popping up, but like I said before, I think the community should have a small amount of anchor sites for the entire fan-base be that TA or SupCom, and spread from there.

I once built a fan site that held up to 3+ million hits per month for about 8 months in its peak so I know a little about traffic and community. :)

i'm suprised MS Zone is dropping Mechcommander 2 ... considering it's not so bad or old ...
also they dropping TA bit strange too ... why simple not wait till Supreme Commander is out and drop it in moment of release or demo ...
let's hope it mean more players come to PW or here to TAS ...

oh well MS was always strange ...
I dont mean to go offtopic here but when I saw this...

Did zone stop hosting TA????????

And I dunno about the ta super sites list. I dunno about PA, it hosts so many dead links. TAU is prob the main one.

TADRS.net was a huge one back in the day too. Was a huge demo site with reviews and downloads and hosted all the maps and cc stuff. But yea, it died I think.

HahahAHA!!!
I still remember that 1st of April joke!
The finest i've ever seen. It got so big that, some time after, Gas Powered Games had a poll asking why people were visiting the site. One of the options was the "Really Cool Wargame".
Later, it was confirmed that they were going to do a RTS under leadership of Chris Taylor. I wonder if that joke wasn't the final trigger!?

There were rumors, once, about one girl (coughguypretendingtobegirlcough) around the forums.

Anyway, what are you thinking? Are you thinking about the same TA sites trying to become the fan sites of SupCom because it is related? And about it's relation to Spring, hoping that Spring get's exposition out of the SupCom fans, especially while SupCom isn't released yet?
If so, i think it is a good idea.

I just think merging the overall concepts together will lead to the vision of clustering more talent. Having so many places to go really spreads people thin and that leads to weak communities.

In my lunch last week with Chris Taylor we discussed the community at great length and you all can rest assured the entire project is being done true to his word as moddable.

We discussed other things, but those I can't talk about. :) Nor can I talk about the tour of the GPG office. It was good. :D

I hope, in time, to be a real voice for the community when dealing in all matters GPG. I'm not an employee, I simply watch and observe closely to what everyone is thinking and make sure people are happy. I pass along those concepts I see as the strongest common thread to the people who can do the most about them. I do not pester them nor do I beg and plead. You have to have professional respect for their efforts.

For now, I'd like to see the community find common ground, and to that end I am pushing. I just wish I could pay the bills doing it professionally. So if we have any millionairs around, time to speak up! :D

Gryph really is a chick... no joke, completely serious. She's just not all that interested in Spring since the AI's still not fully up to scratch yet.

Buggi, feel free to supply SupComU with some exclusive screenshots/videos/information/anything ;)

DarkYouth says Planetannihilation will offically become PlanetSupCom at some point in the future. I hope to god he doesn't get the job.

"So darkyouth, i notice you sent in an application to be manager of PlanetSupCom."
"yes! i am totally maxxed to the coolest about this game lolz! It's hip to my vibe - TOTALLY."
"right. I notice you haven't posted a news update in over a year."
"yeah, there's been NOTHING going on. well, i mean, there was this whole 'spring' thing, but I think that's going to blow over soon. it'z teh lame, yo! plus about.... well actually ALL of my hosted sitse have sent me news, and I've ignored them, but it was just stupid stuff like new versions coming out and stuff like that. fags."
"Right. And about this complaint from one... Cater? Cider? How the hell do you pronounce that, anyway?"
"oh, I just deleted his forum without warning or even providing a redirect. no biggie."
"And I understand, since his departure, your forum has had fewer posts in total than he would get in a single week."
"no, that's just lies. the penguin told you that, didn't he? it's propaganda."

In fairness, DY is the only reason PlanetA was any good. He was the most prolific newsposter in the community. Now that he's not as into it the whole place has gone downhill.

TBH, I got really sick of doing newsposts. 99% of them were about really substandard unit releases.

TAUniverse is really the best TA site around these days. The design is somewhat dated, but hey, it's clean and useable. The forum is active (and quite TA related in certain sub forums) and it has lots of good hosted sites. And the fact that the downloads are fast and easy to access. The File Planet downloads are fine if you're storing lots of big files but they're a royal pain in the ass if you're dloading lots of little files.

You're at the top of my list Gnome. :)

Don't worry, when (or if  ) the time comes, all the planets will align and everything will be good again.

:D

That very true. For example, i miss somewhat knowing what's going on in oTA and also, more importantly, knowing what's going on in the SupCom forums (i could start monitoring more forums but ... freaking hell ... they're already too much).

The comunities beeing together would surely strengthen each others out. Even SupCom would benefit from it because, when it got launched, it would have a mature comunity for the new mass of fans to land in to.

Ms Gryph, i'm sorry for not believing in you (girls aren't much into RTSs and the circumstances were, indeed, suspicious).

About [edit]FilePlanet, PlanetAnything[/edit], they're evil. I hate [edit]FilePlanet[/edit]! Every single time i have to download something, i have to do a new annoying registration, suck up loads of publicity that's even slow to load, and finally, put up with tremendously slow downloads.

Hey hey, FileUniverse is the good one. FilePlanet is the shitty, makes-you-reg-to-wait-in-line, slow downloads one!

TAU all the way. I only ever went to PA because SWTA moved there, and I only go back there about once a week to help any stray noobs that might have run into trouble with the pack.

... and heh, I never knew TAU had a purple colour scheme. I always thought it was blue...
