In the actual making of the game there are a few things you've got to do (sorry if a few of these things are obvious):Regardless of whether you can model you will need to know Spring specific things about animation and I'm sure there are other things too (I don't model so I wouldn't know). For these questions it's best to ask in the art and modelling subforum, also read the stickies in that forum.
- Model, texture etc...
- Animate your models
- Set unit stats, buildorders... all the 'gameplay' stuff
- (Optional) code gadgets to implement features you require that Spring does not directly support.
For animation and unit stats you will need to be familiar with the syntax of Lua. For lua gadgets to implement different features there are plenty of people who know lua willing to help if you have got most of the rest of the game working.
That would only give you the bare engine. To run it without a crash, you need at least a mod and a map (downloadable separately).
