Can we see some gameplay design documents or something? So far it looks like it will be very similar to the Age of Empires series.

I do things diffrent! Let me explain. I make first the UI / HUD etc before i focus on the Engine itself that gives you the Gameplay stuff. The GDD is not for the people's eyes etc. only the people involved in it may see it sorry i can't show. The game is very simmilar to age of empires. yes. but not much. The game is not being made anymore mate, I am busy with an new project etc. I wasted 3 years on that project, but you'll never now what holds the future etc. If we did may be things will go better!

To start with you should download Spring (normal, main site install) and test a game. Games for spring are part of a .sdz package which can be unzipped to see what goes inside.

I'd link smoth's post but it's a little out of date.

In the actual making of the game there are a few things you've got to do (sorry if a few of these things are obvious):
  • Model, texture etc...
  • Animate your models
  • Set unit stats, buildorders... all the 'gameplay' stuff
  • (Optional) code gadgets to implement features you require that Spring does not directly support.
Regardless of whether you can model you will need to know Spring specific things about animation and I'm sure there are other things too (I don't model so I wouldn't know). For these questions it's best to ask in the art and modelling subforum, also read the stickies in that forum.

For animation and unit stats you will need to be familiar with the syntax of Lua. For lua gadgets to implement different features there are plenty of people who know lua willing to help if you have got most of the rest of the game working.

That would only give you the bare engine. To run it without a crash, you need at least a mod and a map (downloadable separately). Which is why I'd rather direct you to more complete installers such as the ones from Kernel Panic or S 1944.
