Already busy. I'm teaching myself Delphi, and use this as one of my test programs. (I need database control and string editing, so more new things for me.)Alantai Firestar wrote:As for decoding my blogs, on ym computer I filter out misspelligns using msn plus! I'm sure I could write soemthign where people decrypted my text by putting it in a program. I couldnt run such a program on this computer or my stepdad would go bezerk. =( I miss havign google toolbar in firefox, that'd solve this problem so easily...
I'm not saying anything is certain. I just thought I'd poke y'all and see if there was movement. :)
There was @_@;;;
I love the Spring project, I've said this many times, and I WILL find the time to finish the map creation program I did to support the new format... it's about 80% done, but the last bit is tough to figure out.
Anyway, I just wanted to start some discussion to get the blood flowing again.

Wasn't TA released the year before Starcraft? Maybe disucssed by the warcraft community. Or I could just be wrong.Alantai Firestar wrote:I doubt the single mind of Chris Taylor is better than the combined might of the OTA and spring communities at generating new ideas and suggestions on how to improove an RTS. Afterrall a lot fo what CT is supposed to ahve revolutionized was simply stuff aimed at pelasing us, or thigns we ahd talked about in forums for other games. A prime example fo thsi would be wreckage on the battlefield which first apepared in TA but had been discussed by the starcraft community.

TA was released the year before Starcaft was released, but actually only a couple month before. Of this two, none copied each other since they were both in their last finish polishing stage when the other was about to get released.
Oh, and there are a gazillions RTS each year, I don't see why SupCom would be any more a threat than, let's say, the next Dawn Of War, or the next Warcraft, or the next Ages of, or the next Earth 2000something, or the next Command&Conquer, or the next pick a random one in that list.
True, I think SupCom is the game that looks like having the best probabiliy of being my dream RTS, with very large army, clever interface, superunits, land sea and air, very close to T.A. etc..., but I think it's very possible that a couple little things overlooked by GPG ruin completly the game. For instance:
- The zoom system could make it so only player playing in the most zoomed out iconic overiew mode stands a chance.
- The map largeness could make it so games take so long no one can afford to play an online game up to the end.
- With tactical nuke instead of D-Gun, the game-ruining commrush tactics could come back in full force.
Also, so far, Chris Taylor made only one great over-the-top game, and GPG none. After playing Dungeon Siege 1&2 demo, I think they're awfull games. (Briefly, because they force you to follow a 2m wide path all along, and because the 3D terrain is ugly, and the 3D units may have lotsa details, that has been done completly for nothing since the view and camera is already a pain when zoomed out, so playing zoomed in is ludicours for anything save screenshots). Those who like D.S. should go play some other Hack'n'Slash before speaking. Sacred >> both D.S. IMO.
So, SupCom could be the game we've all being waiting for for years, but it could also be a terrible failure. As well as anything else inbetween. It's too early to know. While Spring is fully playable, RIGHT NOW!!

I though I mentioned I couldn't even implant a "beep" option? (well the lobby could beep, but you was the only one hearing it).Alantai Firestar wrote:Ah zenka, good on you, you could help out betalord with the lobby with that.
I would love to help out with the lobby, but I think betalord should first explain most of his codings. This would take as much as making all the new features we want.
Hope is that I one day will be good enough in Delphi; I can understand the code myself.
As far as I am, I just finished AD(Alantai Decoder) v1.0. http://lassie.student.utwente.nl/vliet/ad.html
heh, yes it would. Only you place extra chars in every word. that's harder to correct. Alantai just mix the order.aGorm wrote:it errors... sou nfair. I think it woyuld proballie be usefull for my posts to seeing as how i spell teh like that all teh time...

And whats the error? I haven't seen any.
as for the topic, I think we descend in requesting features instead of arguments.
