Re: Random WIP
Using max is like sitting down at the controls of a jumbo jet when all you want to do is walk around the corner to buy some milk.
Re: Random WIP
I HATED Blender in the beginning. I just happened to hate Wings3D more
, and so I kept on using Blender, and eventually (IE halfway through Cylinderbot
) I just 'got it' , and the entire UI made sense!
really, Blender is cumbersome until you learn the hotkeys and UI but imo once you do work becomes much faster with it

Re: Random WIP
/me points at gmn.
in case you didn't get the joke... a tool does not a modeler make.
but so you know I use wings, and if your philosophy is that tools make the man. then out model me midknight and we will settle it that way. OR you can accept that the tool does not make the man,

Re: Random WIP
I point at myself cause I'm 2cool4u, yo
For spring wings or blender (or rhino...) are better tools than max, mainly because max' obj/s3o exports are worthless if you intend to keep the way your normals are set up (smoothing groups in max).

I agree with you in full! I was just trying to disprove TROsmoth wrote:/me points at gmn.

but i DO challenge you to a contest! I will ANNIHILATE you in a challenge of wits, skills, and strength: The Messiest Model Competition! May the man with the most horrendous model win!
do you accept?
Re: Random WIP
You know, I would consider it but being that I work with a contiguous mesh I do not have the privileged to have that distinct failure of unwelded faces or floating verts you win at sucking.

I endorse this product and/or service.smoth wrote:You know, I would consider it but being that I work with a contiguous mesh I do not have the privileged to have that distinct failure of unwelded faces or floating verts you win at sucking.

Re: Random WIP

The spherefighter (wip obviously)
*edit* the centre section isnt connected to the side sections because the model isnt finished. not some strange stylistic descision
Re: Random WIP
just my opinion but 4 wings might make it more interesting
Re: Random WIP
and for the ease of unwrapping I'd seperate the wings
Re: Random WIP
Looks good so far.Pressure Line wrote:The spherefighter
1. Make sure it has some techno-bits between the smooth plates, connecting them together. This can mostly be done on the texture but ensure you've planned out beforehand which parts are which.
2. Make sure it has some animating components (Perhaps the wings tuck in when landed).
3. Give it prominent guns. Missiles, perhaps attatch them to the exterior rather than being missile launching pods. They will need to reload though, so perhaps have them extend from a bay. Also, light EMG's assuming this is the light fighter rather than the air-superiority one.
Other details you can include are flaps, air intakes, and useless but cool looking moving components on the engines. (0:10)
Also take a look
at
these
and
these for a few design ideas.
Also this
(Mostly for the details, the smooth plates + technobits- thats what we are going for)
Re: Random WIP

Ok, it doesn't look as much like the executioner as I thought. I realllly like the design of both of them for some reason, though. With a cool texture, that could look pretty nice.

Re: Random WIP
pretty, that isnt spring though is it?
Re: Random WIP
That first pic is the Malediction... the Executioner doesn't have the rear inner wings
