as i said, mainly for noobs who are wondering where their base disappeared to while they're looking over the other side of the map and come back to find a crater. because i've been in that situation and been stumped as to why my base is gone. did it get nuked, did someone combomb me, did a fusion explode and take out my base, etc?
That argument is a dangerous slippery slope though. Noobs might not know that the bertha shot means there base is getting shelled, so should an annoying warning be made for that? Newbs might not know that fast moving radar dots incoming means that bombers are going to attack your base, so we need a warning for that. Newbs might not know that a cloaked commander is about to dgun their defense lines... etc.

There comes a point where you just have to chock it up to learning the game, you can only babysit new players so much, and really, you only should. That particular problem is as easy solved by a tips system like CA has, or a tutorial, that way everyone else wouldn't have to be annoyed by a klaxon.

But a nuke is sudden and if you look a moment too late you can't tell if someone dropped a nuke or if they just sniped your ally's adv fusion or something. Combooms, volatile buildings being destroyed, nuke impacts, etc are pretty sudden and depending on which it was you'd have to react differently.

Probably a big help would be just to give these things better trails. If there was a massive smoke trail coming down from the sky leading to where the smoke was clearing in the middle of your base that lasted for 5-10 seconds, you'd have a pretty good idea of what happened. Same goes for bertha shells.

I really like the big red X idea, as it was in OTA, i mean honestly, a radar in that world should be able to tell whats a nuke and what isn't anyhow and since the nuke is a much bigger danger then a freaking AA missile or a berta shell, it should somehow have at least a visual indicator.

The smoke does last that long. The trail isnt too long, but a firing anti pinpoints it fast anyway.
Enable decals. Nukes have their own massive decals. Press f1 to see nuke impact crater.
And need I say it more often? NUKELAUNCH SOUND IS LOUD AND CLEAR ON WHOLE MAP FOR ALL PLAYERS!

Warning on incoming bombers? glance at minimap. You did build advanced radar right?
A comm about to dgun? radar blip in LOS.

How about this elaborate after-the-fact message:

Notification
A nuclear missile was just exploded in your base. If only you would have built anti but you didn't so now you're dead. You suck lol.

Instead of an explosion, a nuke could also paint a smiley on the map, to make your enemies happy ... though that would mean that building antis would kinda suck :(

Actually it would be really cool if the groundscar for the nuke was a big yellow smileyface 0.1% of the time. Spring needs more easter eggs!

OK here is my idea.

Maybe just do it like in real world. I mean, first player needs to build structure that detects launches (it may be the same building that protects against such attacks) and the launches are detected.

 They need to make the explosions more prevailent, like a HUGE white flash thas visible to all and a HUGE mushrome cloud that lingers for 2 mins or so. or make them like ca 0.3b3`s nuke.

That is the CA CORE NUKE. 'AA 5.0' which also stole the AA name from Caydr, nicked that nuke from CA (Though its free and open source, it just sucks that they get the credit).

CA has this huge, long lasting, smokey, spectacular nuke for just this reason. If you get nuked you'll know about it. However, Arms nuke is less spectacular because arms nuke actually does less damage and has less AoE (Been this way since BA).

How about a special nuclear radiation radar which has same range as adv radar but alerts you when a Nuke is being fired :P
Price is double vulcan.

thesleepless wrote:obviously a mod thing, this would be a nice feature,

when an enemy launches a nuclear weapon everyone would get informed of it, and perhaps show the rough location of it on the minimap

this way ppl know they're about to get nuked and can start moving their units away from bases etc and know that they need to build antinukes in future, also, they'll know why they got killed, far too often i've had my entire base obliterated but not known how it happened
reminds me of RA2, it was good feature... also superweapons should be visible to everyone in the game, that way they arent so OP anymore...

Visible super weapons wouldn't work with TA style nuke/anti-nuke weapons.

It looks like a giant flaming penis. What's not spectacular about that?
