Re: Improve Co-op gameplay?
Gota: You need to reread my posts in this topic it's not just adding restrictions you also SHARE THE ECONOMY with your team and you're playing and commanding during FPS mode in the entire game! What you're asking is better communication, which it can be done by programing a widget. The units restrictions and the limit of it, gives the players a challenge, rather spamming a certain unit all the time to gain victory. This type of restriction encourage the players to help each others weakness and objectives.
The main idea of the engine is this:
Similarity's
Economy
Factories
Differences
Player 1 unit control| Player 2 unit control
anti-air kbots- 10 | Infantry kbots-20
20-gunships | 10-meduim tanks
10-Missile kbots | 5-raider tanks
5-rezbots with capture ability | 5-rezbots with capture ability
The improvement for the FPS mode is the following:
Improving the camera position, so it won't look so terrible on some units
Ability to control other units during FPS mode and switching FPS with them with ease.
Improving targeting systems by pressing a certain button you track the unit all the entire time until its out of range, destroy or Canceled; and with better GUI for FPS mode.

So comshare with restrictions. You can say thats not what it is, but I read each of your posts for some reason, and its just comshare with restrictions, and the typical request for FPS mode improvements.
Use lua to automatically share units and resources.
Look at mods like Regret's mech shooter mod for fps luastuffs.
Case closed imo. But if I am really missing the point elaborate.

Re: Improve Co-op gameplay?
The players have there own commanders and their own type of army Tribulex it isn't just com sharing.
Re: Improve Co-op gameplay?
Second part:yes thats what i meant.hoijui wrote:+1 for the first part of your suggestion, Gota.
that should be easily doable with LUA. would be just a GUI which could trigger draw events or set markers (in its simplest form).
the second part, the more complicated stuff...
am not sure if i get what you mean. the usage pools you mention:
in general, each unit in the team belongs only to one of the players that control the team, and only if they put a unit into the shared pool, it can be controlled by the others aswell.
is that the idea?
Hoi:
as Gota said, even if you have a mic, your co player may not, and there is nothing you can do. also, you may not speak the same language, plus it can be hard to explain positions: "sent that unit you have there.. in the north west to where i fight, pls!"
"..you mean on the left? and to where? you fight on 3 fronts."
the idea has a right to exist even with voice communication.
Re: Improve Co-op gameplay?
Smoth's idea of two allied team members of different factions would work well with a gadget that automatically sets resource share to full, preferably for only those two players.
As an added bonus with such a method, you can still use color differentiation to tell players units apart, unlike with commsharing, where all units must be the same color.
If you really want something like this Super Mario, I would suggest learning how to code Lua and mod spring. You can't rely on luck that some random developer that isn't already occupied with his own project takes and interest in your idea, especially since all current mod developers have their hands full.
As for Gota's ideas; it wouldn't hurt to have functions like quick chat. The idea of a shared unit pool per team is genius though. I can think of a situation where one player has a fighter swarm and another a gunship swarm. Getting your teammates attention to cover your gunships from enemy fighters can be hard, but if the fighters were shared, anyone could grab them to back up their air units without bothering the owner every time.
