BA modification idea
i was thinking of making a mod (apart from that i don't know much about moding) that would be exactly the same as the newest version of BA with one difference in place of commander on start you would be given 4 amphibious constructors
this modification would prevent any "based on luck tactics" with overusing the commander in tactics such as com rush or com push and many other ones, that in my opinion ruins the game balance especially in 1v1 or 2v2 games (i can add many examples)
another plus is that it would speed a bit start with allowing to expand a bit faster
also the base defense would be more tricky especially in the early part of the game
another idea is to add a building that can make only amphibious constructors or maybe a veh lab or kbot lab
i remember that there was some tries to remove the commander by adding a strange constructor that in number of 1 is not enough in addition it was a really slow one that made the game boring at start...
other try was adding a com without dgun or an emp explosion when he dies that didn't made it popular as well
i know this will not look like total annihilation mod without a commander :/
what do you think about this modification ? is it a good idea that could start a new era of 1v1 and 2v2 games ?

Have you played CA? They have a mod option which does this. there you start with com and can morph him into 3 vech kbot or air cons.

if you have an idea, do it, don't tell us about it. Ba isn't owned by anyone all the content is stolen. Someone says it is in ca... that's fine, you don't want CA you want BA. Modify BA making what is called a MUTATOR and then post it in the ba thread.

Grab the code from CA, mash it into BA and you're good.

Smoth is right. BA is about stability, they will not do radical changes*. If you want a change in BA, make a mutator and release that to BA players.

and mutators are small. What a mutator does is allow you to override files in a mod allowing for new settings. By making a mutator you merely add a reference, change a flag in modinfo on the reference and include your files. to update it when there is a new BA release, you merely update the mod reference. The mutator file is small because of this and people are more likely to try it. A mutator can be like an ADDON and that is pretty cool IMO.

maybe thats the only way with the mutator
but i still want to try talk to Noize and ask if he could add it in game mode options this way it would be more popular and still the mod would had as a default game mode with commanders
maybe he will have some time to do it and will like the idea

SA has a nerfed commander mod option.
The commander cant d gun and doesnt explode like a nuke.
Instead it has x2 hp.So its a formiddable builder and can help assaults in early game but cant be exploited for all kinds of combombs and atlas drops d gun lab and return kinda stuff.

Erm... Wiki is your friend... making a balance mutator is ridiculously easy.
Here's a very simple example- BA 6.31 with the weapon damages doubled for every weapon, every category.

Perhaps we need a more general approach for this, like, for instance allowing the player to start with an arbitrary collection of units?
