yes its possible, but you should probably start posting this thread in the mods forum since it is not really pertaining to art yet.

Maybe your sides could look like this:

Dalek

Davros -> builds Daleks
Daleks

Cybermen

Cyber Controller -> builds Cybermen
Cybermen

The two sides could like, fight each other and blow each other up and stuff. I think it's a pretty solid design document. Get to it!

Except in dr.who 4 daleks waltz into a room full of cyber men shooting at them and destroy them taking no damage of any kind.

Also davros does not build daleks himself, he has production lines. They're manufactured in factories and mass produced. Just like cybermen have those processing machines with the saws and the lasers.

Everyone has to learn some time. Most of the people here will refuse to help you make a mod unless you help. Rip apart a mod and learn. Winrar opens mod files, and the sites wiki is a great teacher.

Thanks for that, will help me learn.
IS there a way to reverse egineer (so to speak) the models found within a mod (3do files) so I can open them in 3DS Max 2008?

Yeah, load in upspring then save as(also fors for .s3o) > .obj/.3ds if availible, but it's better to watch other models, from ppl on this forum, they're more high poly, also check out what a texture can do, I suggest mr D's models, they're good to learn from(especially textures).

Yeah I was thinking about that problem, maybe instead of in the time war set before the Series. THe mod could be based on a second time war in the future. Where the cybermen have captured a Dalek and exploited a weaknes.

forgive my ignorance but you want to do an rts with 2 units?

What else is there going to be in it? why was this not posted in mod/games discussion?

so the cybermen have 2 units. Past the whole "daleks are cool bit" have you considered how this would work out to be exciting and not dull?

Meh... Smoth, let him get past the initial hurdles of making some Daleks and stuff that go pew-pew, boooom.

After that... I'm sure that all sorts of non-canon variants could be made, to fill out a typical RTS pantheon. The world of Dr. Who isn't instant RTS fodder, but that's not the end of the world- neither was Dune...

yeah, ok, but what about that is rts? He has to look at his concept and seriously consider what he intends to do and what the gameplay is going to be like. This is not mean or cruel.

First: he posts a mod announcement with little forethought. These seldom ever see any progress.

Second: he posted it in the wrong forum.

Now at least he didn't make the mistake of asking people to immediately help him do it. At this point in his mod design he needs to take a look at:
what he kind of units he wants to do
what sort of dynamics will he have
How will the units interact etc.

oh wait I have a thread talking about all these concepts

you guys are not being fair to the guy and asking him the real questions to help him brainstorm and workout his concept. By asking him what he has planned and how it would interact I was trying to help him brainstorm!

No some of us are just assholes with too much spare time on their hands (like me).

You should try to pick some of the missing skills up so you don't have to depend on others to get shit done properly. Also, one man projects are much less trouble than a circus full of CAlowns :P

That should do it for a start. You'll have to practice a lot if you really want to do this (unless you're fine with mediocrity).

Daleks would never willingly submit to the master ro work with another species in that way, and you would be makign tonnes and tonnes fo dalek fanatics go wtf looking at that tech tree.

Sontarion -> Sontaran

And none of them would have bombers and aircraft, all these races have space faring ability and thus aircraft are obsolete and where for the most part never shown in the series so you would be deviating from the TV series and adding work for yourself.
