Deciding Start Positions

Post by Carnston »

This might be a bit of a newb question, but how do you go about forcing a player to start in a certain position?

I normally play against computers with my friends and finding a map where player 3 isn't all the way on the other side of the map from player 4 is fairly hard. I've tried setting the AIs to certain IDs, restricting them in start point team rectangles, but nothing's worked so far.

I will point out that I've been using the Select Positions option the whole time if that can interfere with anything.

the engine has an option to set start positions while still in the lobby

alas, nobody has implemented it in multiplayer, only in single player ;)

to force a player to start in a position (like an AI), the host must type .cheat, .team x (where x is the team number of the player) then choose their position, .team 0 (or whatever team the host is), .cheat (to turn cheating off)

Thanks for the help. Certainly hope it gets implemented for multiplayer.

Isn't this a limitation of current Protocol? Iirc that's why we need to disable the feature for multiplayer in SpringLobby, the functionality is already there.

*looks at satirik*

we actually wrote up the protocol for it, but someone didn't want to implement it.
