Uh what? We all know the TA mods aren't exactly legal since the models, names and side logos are not from this community.
Re: Inapropriate wiki edit.
Which is why there is a reminder somewhere that you need to own a copy of TA in order to download games with OTA content or the base archive.

Re: Inapropriate wiki edit.
the *a mods are illegal, cuz they depend on otacontent.sdz, its legally requierd that you have ota if you want to use the content

skirmishes are so much fun!
Re: Inapropriate wiki edit.
but missions are fun too! but i would prefer skirmish above missions, also becaus you cant do multiplayer without cd1
Re: Inapropriate wiki edit.
Actually it's false, it doesn't matter if you own OTA or not. Uploading any OTA deriative is copyright infringement. Downloading depends on the laws in your country, some ban downloading too, some don't.
Re: Inapropriate wiki edit.
I don't think that's really true. That would suggest that modding any game and uploading your content is copyright infringement and Cavedog went out of its way to help modders, who weren't doing something very different from spring's modders.

I think KDR meant that we actually upload Cavedog stuff with our TA mods and not just what we've done ourselves while for mods in general you just upload what you want to add to the original source excluding what came with the game you mod...
Re: Inapropriate wiki edit.
what about asking the company that owns ta making it abandonware/ selling or giving us the licence?

Whee, this again.Hoi wrote:what about asking the company that owns ta making it abandonware/ selling or giving us the licence?
Technically I think it would stand up in court as abandoned IP, as Atari claimed not to own the TA IP in a communication with one of our community members. In any case, if Atari isn't aware that they own the IP, they probably aren't too concerned with enforcing their rights

Supposedly the TA IP was optioned to some Korean company, though.

You spin me right round baby, right round, like a record baby, right round...
Re: Inapropriate wiki edit.
It is by default, some games have EULAs that permit modding, others include the license permitting mods into the SDK or something.LordMatt wrote:I don't think that's really true. Re: Inapropriate wiki edit.
I'd question whether certain other mods legality for general use is any better, actually.
