made a small update, and made a new config for it, the new config fixes these issues:

the new config will generate fog that looks like trepan fog, it just needs a few editing and it is done.

here is the new file, with the new config, this one doesn't has the cliping problem, i will post the fog effect config in its topic.

There are some artifacts when zoomed in on the water... happened on water 1 and 2, 3 doesn't work here anymore.

this is fixed by removing the draw world reflection, refraction calls which aren't important.

it draws the ambient spheres in the water, that is not good.

i will release soon a new version of this, it will have:

chat commands for switching fog options, like:

Code: Select all

/luaui increaselayers
and a command for printing the current options.

the new sphere drawing function, made by me, it allows choosing the render mode, number of subdivisions, and more.

better ambient sphere drawing, it could be made to use fog effect widget fog drawing to make it look better.

and later i could make a option to draw fog of war.

Could this be used to mark the parts of the map you don't have visual sight over?

btw which map is that? Did foreboding make it? It looks nice, I wonder if it'll get re-released with the fog?

i have an unreleased version of fog effect, will get released soon.
btw which map is that? Did foreboding make it? It looks nice, I wonder if it'll get re-released with the fog?
The map is small divide remake, made by foreboding.

In my opinion, this fog would look good in the map altored divide, or in the map Emain Macha.

You know, it'd be awesome if we could use this to get rid or /obscure the skybox... Or even just fade out the corners of some of the maps. Make some non square looking maps finally!

Just my two cents :idea:

Yes, It is small divide remake, and sure :-)

UF died about the time it was released and I never put it up anywhere else. I'll upload it to evolutionrts.info/maps

Then there is a non-playable map area required and that means map edits!! Otherwise you would have fog on spots where units can go!

I've finished an early edit of the Gadget conversion, sped stuff up quite a bit, by using an alternative method of displaying low-level fog (i.e., no spheres- they're far too expensive, unfortunately), among other things. Source attached. I'm going to do a few minor improvements, but this is basically ready, imo...

Using Argh's gadget, i made Ooooweeee, its a 18x18 map, but somehow the performance is somewhat sloppy :( (especially with shadows enabled) any suggestions, to optimize the settings in the ground fog but to keep the nice effect?

EDIT

hmm it seems i had some under setting in my personal settings a bit wrong, the preformance hit is acceptable!
