Dont put the shiny reflection on the, uh, butt area (for lack of better terminology). Use reflection in texture 2 instead.

That would involve actually adjusting the photos in some way after pasting them on >_>

I fix'd the stagbeetle's tex, removed reflections from texture, made jaw joints look better.
Made the Dragonfly and the Ant(based on the carpenter ant, tex is still WIP)
P.S. The butt is called abdomen, and the torso is called thorax :-)

Holy crap cool mod... too bad Spring doesn't support MD3's, since there's some good MD3 fan-made Doom stuff out there that you could probably get permissions for.

That isn't too bad - even if the models could be ported to Spring I propably would have to redo most of the stuff to fit my style. But support for .md3's would be fine for organic models (without having to use dirt tricks). We could have orcs, sandworms, dragons and rancors then!!! Think of the possibilities!

Flower mantis! (As pointed out to me by Panda in the off topic arthropod thread which is probably worth looking at).

Make it entirely smooth-shaded because it's organic.

He can do what he wants, low res textures make his project more readily available to lower end machines.

Seriously, it is better then anything you are doing.. oh wait you are not.

I don't think there is any point making it higher res, because you won't see it closely anyways most of the time. It flies really fast too, and is a small bug. :P
Besides it already looks nice enough...

Nah leave it but add specularity (green channel). And perhaps subtle environment reflections for the eyes (blue channel).

Indeed.

Columbus, are you mapping the models to photographs of insects or are you painting them/copypasting stuff?
