Waves hitting shores could just be some moving quads with perhaps animated textures on, that's how they do it in supcom I think. Only hard part is to detect all the shorelines.

I think the shoreline waves would be awesome.

also to those of you missing my post earlier, the reason the water looked out of place on my map was that was a night map and the water was lit for day. if they chose a daytime map they would have no issues with the water.

No offense people, but instead of drooling about this, could you download and test it, and report your results, good or bad, in the thread I started about this?

Right now, on every piece of hardware I've gotten used, Spring is basically unplayable, or has serious rendering errors, due to this patch, which did not just add this water, but changed a whole lot of fundamental stuff.

Please... quit telling people how awesome this is, until you've tested it and reported your results in the thread...

What is your video card, chipset, and OS? And the "ca menu not being readable" is part and parcel of this- it's one of the bugs I've found thus far.

I don't have the time to sit down and test that. I am busy and what little time I have to do things is best spent on gundam or maps. Furthermore, my computer can only run spring at 14-20 fps so unless you have a solution to that I cannot offer meaningful feedback.

What I can do for spring is to keep working on my project so that spring has more content to show off.

IOW, instead of finding out whether your project is DOA, like mine currently is, you're pleading that you're too busy to spend 5 minutes testing

oh really? five minutes? how about 10 minutes for a download then another oh... 1-2 hours to check maps and all my units?

What kind of testing is five minutes? Oh look spring can load... oh wait.. 5 minutes.. downloading exhausts that. So OH LOOK IT DOWNLOADS! LOL!

You don't need to do a 1-2 hour testing run, to see the problems I've described, Smoth. Really. Just download, install to a test directory, and run it. Try /give all, see what happens.

And again, I might be too busy. Argh, I have a job, a girlfriend, a social life and you know what? There is nothing wrong with me working on my mod with what little spare time I have. Honestly, what is with that guilt trip bullcrap?

Argh, I have a lot to model and I have maybe 1-2 hours an evening for myself. It is wrong for you to give me shit about working on my project.

Um, I am not trying to give you a guilt trip. I'm saying 5 minutes invested in testing will probably convince you that we all need to keep our eyes on this issue until it has been resolved. 5 minutes, Smoth. Not hours.

It's always possible we'll end up with enough testing results that we can establish some pattern showing that only a few users are in any way seeing graphical corruption, huge slowdowns, crashes, failures of certain elements to draw, or the many problems I've documented.

However, given that I haven't seen results from anybody indicating that Spring operated completely correctly since the patch was applied, it's in your interest as a game designer to follow this issue.

I wouldn't make this big of a stink, if I wasn't very concerned about this. I have held off on taking P.U.R.E. to beta, solely because of these problems, which did not exist prior to the patch, as the alpha testers like GMN have reported.

argh, what about turreted brawlers being broken for several versions(including the current)? I have mentioned this and I am still not sure that it was fixed.

Well, that's a horse of a different color there- a gameplay element that doesn't quite work right is not really the same as an entire engine that's screwed up.

That said, I have turreted gunships that work, in P.U.R.E... I've already said that the Cannon weapon performs correctly, and you can set the gravity to zero, if you don't want to see any gravitational effects, it won't effect the range issues that cause gunships to behave strangely. I'm not saying that that element, or many other things, are perfect- but they can work, in a gimpy fashion. This is a whole 'nuther level of bad news, trust me :P

a cannon weapon is not what it is and that is beside the point. It isn't a short five minute afair, the download and install take roughly 30 minutes. Thirty minutes that I could use to continue my work. Yet we have at least 200+ people in the lobby. So why me? No good reason. I need those thirty minutes, I really do.
