@Hobo Joe
Have you *played* OTA lately? BA is as different from it as CA is.

Re: CA and the primary mod
I play both, but BA is more smooth and polished balance wise. Also less laggy.
Oh and yes, TA was my fav game of all times so atm BA is most close mod that playes well. +Much better than TA. :) Starcraft was second.

Less laggy? Only you must never have a game above 20 minutes then :) After that point econ growth gets insane...ginekolog wrote:I play both, but BA is more smooth and polished balance wise. Also less laggy.

And no, it isn't.
Re: CA and the primary mod
BA is pretty damn different from TA. Blocking, exploits, min-intensity, unit selection, flight physics...
Nice try, Joe.

ya lol flash and stumpie keep pwning my baes they must be OP lolOtherside wrote:CA has more than 8 balanced units which is more than BA has
+1. If you ever played the OTA missions and saw what units the game designers used for the AI opponents bases and armies, you would notice how similar they are to what you see in the typical online game of BA. OTA balance, while it had its charm, was fundamentally broken and the work leading to BA has been the fix. Thus, if someone remade the OTA missions for spring, they would play better with BA than the other popular derivatives. IMO this allows BA to rightly claim that it is the derivative closest to the spirit of OTA.ginekolog wrote:Oh and yes, TA was my fav game of all times so atm BA is most close mod that playes well. +Much better than TA. :)

Not to mention mt forests, sparking, nuke-flooding, and being able to fly your planes off the gameworld, including flying transports with comsBA is pretty damn different from TA. Blocking, exploits, min-intensity, unit selection, flight physics...

Re: CA and the primary mod
I think CA has been trolled here by getting into the OTA argument.
BA is about balancing OTA. Personally I think BA is allowed to make all sorts of changes that differ or have never existed so long as overall a game of BA still "plays" like OTA. Pace, general strategies remain the same etc, just.. no one thing is particular overpowered. In a way BA is the current successor of a linage that stems back to OTA mods like Uberhack and no-one complains about them not being faithful?
CA however owes itself nothing to play like OTA. It supposed to be its owe fun in depth game. CA connections to OTA should be about the same as SupCom is similar to OTA. Everyone can understand how the latter's similarity to OTA, yet knows it plays quite differently, so... why is it so hard for people to grasp that with CA?
This is also the case when you be arguing CA > BA cause BA != OTA. When this has nothing to do with you either?
When you SHOULD be arguing/justifying "No, because we aren't, and oh what is this TA you speak of, we aren't meant to be like TA". Its the old "Have you stopped beating your wife?" fallacy.
I personally support the Mod which would allow me to "legitimately" publicise, and one which cater for new players. Of the two (seeing as only those two have decent players in the first place). CA is the only one that is even trying to do that. (Tooltips, better UI, ingame help, menus, replacing models, freeing itself from Atari IP etc).
However, it think we would be further to that goal if BA cared about developing UI, and replacing models.
Bah, why you do you all disappoint me?

I note CA how got fooled into thinking this is a yes or no question (i.e. Either Yes, we are an unbalanced version of TA, or No we aren't an unbalanced version of TA), naturally taking the latter, and expending posts on it, but failing to notice it implicitly admitted it was be like TA, contradicting your own design goals.CA cons:
It's not TA. And yet, it IS TA. This is a problem. They say it's a work in progress to depart from TA, but I say they need to stop releasing until they have made something that's not an unbalanced version of TA with a ****ed up build tree.

Re: CA and the primary mod
BA has nothing to do with balancing OTA. BA is balancing AA, which was mixing OTA with UH and assorted other unit packs.
Re: CA and the primary mod
I'm sorry for disappointing you Sertse.
Re: CA and the primary mod
My point exactly. While it has many things that are different from OTA, it still comes down the the same gameplay.LordMatt wrote:ya lol flash and stumpie keep pwning my baes they must be OP lolOtherside wrote:CA has more than 8 balanced units which is more than BA has

CA, on the other hand, changes it fundamentaly. So saying BA is as different from OTA as CA is... Is more than a little exaggeration.
I'd have assumed that'd be obvious, due to how CA still uses unit models and unit names from OTA.CA however owes itself nothing to play like OTA. It supposed to be its owe fun in depth game. CA connections to OTA should be about the same as SupCom is similar to OTA. Everyone can understand how the latter's similarity to OTA, yet knows it plays quite differently, so... why is it so hard for people to grasp that with CA?
So until that's fixed, people won't separate them... For obvious reasons.
I 100% agree. However, I still think that the remodels should stick VERY close to the originals in BA's case, and not stray away from the style and design of TA.However, it think we would be further to that goal if BA cared about developing UI, and replacing models.
As for CA, considering that they don't want to be like OTA, they can pretty much do whatever they want with the remodels.
Re: CA and the primary mod
Here is my opinion: CA takes the best from all the good *A mods:
Epic spaminous gameplay from BA
Units from AA
Beauty of XTA
And speaking of xta, CA has an option for the SEAPLANE STYLE AIR LABS FROM XTA!!!! I think this, combined with everything else, means it has what once made xta the greatest mod ever, and is thus the greatest mod ever.
Especially when i kill your coms with seaplane gunships.
The other awesome thing about CA is that you can jump right in and start contributing content.

Re: CA and the primary mod

Re: CA and the primary mod
The mumbo is faster than the bulldog, has a beamlaser (more accurate, constant firing), twice the DPS and less than a 5th of the HP. It is an anti-unit combat tank and raider, capable of dealing a lot of damage but not taking much in return. The bulldog is an assault tank capable of operating in zones of heavy fire and taking on defended areas directly.
The rest has already been addressed and its pointless to keep arguing it... comparing either BA or CA to OTA is missing the point.

Gotta agree here. I see a quite high number of people playing CA like BA, and some of then later complaining that CA sucks...Otherside wrote:i lol wen people say BA is more balanced than CA

It's pretty clear none of us are going to change our views.
How about we live together in peace and harmony? :)

My experience of CA in team games; noobs die and lose the game for X team before any fight between decent players can play itself out.Otherside wrote:i lol wen people say BA is more balanced than CA
