Day, BA develloper hates me since I mirrored his SA spam. (Note I mirrored HIS spam).
Machiosaber hates CA (rejection syndrome, he first worked on it but he dislikes it nows, normal psychological reaction is that you start hating it).
I only wait for Tired to show up, he suffers from similar syndrome.
Or perhaps CyberFox - he was enthusiastic about CA and organized tourneys, but when we changed to "flat balance" he could not adjust to it and now says CA devs suck etc..

Note that I never said I am impartial. I just called for use of rational arguments and reason.
So far most comprehensive attempt was that from Krogoth. But even his arguments just pointed out how this "feels" like aggressive marketing.
So he basically said that he understands why so many people are unhappy with that. I now understand it too, but it doesnt change fact that this "unhappiness" is irrational too :)

I reject lots of things without hating them, I don't hate CA, I think it's superior to BA in a lot of ways, it's just the ideas behind it are flawed and most of the devs are gits.
I think the position that the topic in main should either mention every mod or none is completely rational and if you want to name a general downloading tool(sort of) after your mod then that's your problem.

I honestly can't believe the shit you're spouting. You're actually accusing people who haven't even posted in this thread about how they hate CA?

Re: #main Topic and CA updater
Well how/when did you come to this conclusion that most devs are gits? And how does that not qualify as hate? (Note I might use term incorrectly, me no speak english)Machiosabre wrote:I reject lots of things without hating them, I don't hate CA, I think it's superior to BA in a lot of ways, it's just the ideas behind it are flawed and most of the devs are gits.
Wasnt it after some changes made you stop playing it?

Re: #main Topic and CA updater
That's another thing, whats with always saying every time people disagree with a change they can't "adapt" or "handle it" that's the biggest load ever, changes are not good by default.Licho wrote:Well how/when did you come to this conclusion that most devs are gits?Machiosabre wrote:I reject lots of things without hating them, I don't hate CA, I think it's superior to BA in a lot of ways, it's just the ideas behind it are flawed and most of the devs are gits.

I left because of lots of reasons namely:
faster gameplay != better gameplay
I don't give a rats ass about keeping T1 units relevant the entire game, I'd rather get a set of new units to use in t2.
Advertising.
Diversity between sides for the sake of diversity.
Fuckin updates, which I admit are much better with a weekly stable.
No more Fox

Reading #ca made me want to kill myself.
And gits, well, you're acting like one in this thread, I hate Otherside and I don't like Neddie or Saktoth, I love Quantum though <3.

@Licho:
Don't let yourself be pulled down - your postings get cheaper with every following instance...
BTW - tombom's recent posting both feeds my conspiracy theory (lol - I hadn't expected to actually find that much mini hints for this description of my perception
) and supports that rational argument to remove the CA Updater from the login posting. On your page the updater's possibilities towards sort of an automatic ad-slogan creation is described and with that it now even actively helps to advertise CA which is another reason to remove it from the inital posting (not that there haven't been enough yet imo) and well - I guess everything that only has loosely ties to any kind if advertisement can be used to support that conspiracy concept...

Well that's a bit close minded. You start on the news page at spring-portal.com and when you scroll down you'll see some older news about Pendrokar's trailer video and maps like Folsom Dam or Aftershock. So unless you didn't ask for a more recent news or even for a news when the next CA version is released you can't just blame that...Licho wrote:And btw some links are heavilly associated with mods. For example front-page of spring-portal.com
reads
GET BALANCED ANNIHILATION NOW!!

Well imo I and some other guys here actually gave a rational argument and reason but there was yet no response to it from your side and that is the simple fact that #main is not meant for mod advertising and especially not in every login posting. My "conspiracy theory" then was my attempt to show my perception of a subtone which arises from some of your posting and which might be the case why some people act a bit huffy in topics like this. Might not be correct for everyone but I just wanted to have that said...Licho wrote:Note that I never said I am impartial. I just called for use of rational arguments and reason.

Re: #main Topic and CA updater
Yeah you sure have your reasons. I just point to well know fact, that you are now more suspectible to disliking anything associated with CA, and that there are well known real-life cases. Its just psychological reaction to make onself happier with his past decisions.
It would feel stupid thinking that you made wrong decision ever joining the CA team or that you failed to convince others about your arguments. Normally mind inclines to hating - you can start hating CA devs and "blame" stuff on them.
Its not bad, its natural, it just simply works that way.
Thats why many divorced or split-up partners hate each other.
So dont take it personally, I just tried to explain that nobody here is or can be impartial and so as rational arguments as possible are badly needed.
And sorry, I'm acting like a git here? Sorry but I tried to be as nice as possible.
Would it feel better if I resorted to ad hominem attacks alla TomBom with:

You mean how everyone's telling you the way you're advertising CA is bad and you're telling yourself they're all incapable of rational thought instead of admitting you're wrong? yeah that does seem likely.Licho wrote:Yeah you sure have your reasons. Re: #main Topic and CA updater
I acknowledge that "rule" krogoth, but again where is it stated and WHO decided it?
Why should I follow it and what purpose it serves?
I tried to explain how is CA special and why it should be treated differently. I cant do anything more.
Rules should be designed to help as many people as possible enjoy this game (with whatever mod). Surely giving them easy access to otherwise hard to get second most played mod cant be that bad can it?
Note that someone removed Complete Annihilation mention from the #main so this topic probably doesnt even need to continue.

Re: #main Topic and CA updater
Do you have any idea how annoying it is to have your opinions dismissed because apparently I argued with you once? The only time I've argued with you that I can remember was yesterday, when I said it was was annoying to have CA constantly spammed in #main. It's ridiculous that you responded to a post saying it's stupid to say everybody not wanting to have it in the topic was a BA person by making even more tenuous allegations about the people arguing against you.

Re: #main Topic and CA updater
Well I in fact don't know who decided this and where it can be looked up. That's also why no one comes with something like "RTFM manual! There it's said in §6 - You must not advertise your mod in #main!". But I think you were faced with this fact in that other topic with the complaint of too much "Go play CA"-spam in #main. I too think that this rule should be officially valited by one of the Spring devs who writes it down clearly for everyone...Licho wrote:I acknowledge that "rule" krogoth, but again where is it stated and WHO decided it?
Well the "why should I follow it" really wasn't the best thing you could say now. It's a rule and it's there. You aren't forced to follow it but if you don't you have to expect some kind of punishment whatever form it may have. Right now it's the existence of this topic asking for the CA Updater link removal...Licho wrote:Why should I follow it and what purpose it serves?
The purpose or sense behind this rule now is something else. I think no one will be mad on you if you start a discussion as how far this non-advertising rule makes sense or not. But you can't just go ahead and decide to not obey the rules you think make no sense and then be surprised when what I called the "punishment" starts...
Well in this case you tries to explain CA's need for special treatment was kinda superfluous when there is a rule that says "no special treatment for mods in #main". Beside of that you've seen I don't quite agree with some of your arguments being valid...Licho wrote:I tried to explain how is CA special and why it should be treated differently. I cant do anything more.
As I said: If you think that a specific rule is totally off start a discussion saying "Hey - c'mon let's change that, it's stupid.". But don't just go ahead and say that you did the way did because in your opinion that and that rule is stupid and so doesn't need to be obeyed...Licho wrote:Rules should be designed to help as many people as possible enjoy this game (with whatever mod). Surely giving them easy access to otherwise hard to get second most played mod cant be that bad can it?
You're probably right but it now might be the time for you to bring the "Should we keep that rule?" discussion up...Licho wrote:Note that someone removed Complete Annihilation mention from the #main so this topic probably doesnt even need to continue.
Re: #main Topic and CA updater
There is no such rule/conclusion in moderator's forum, I assure you..
