Wouldn't it give the same issue as you claim exists with BA dominating Spring? (ie. Spring dominating Glest or the other way round)
Of course they can use our software 'n stuff, it's open source after all. I wouldn't in any way attempt to force it upon them though, if they are aware it exists they can decide for themselves whether they want to build lobby client/server from scratch, use some other generic lobby or use Spring lobby stuff.

Not quite because glest already has a large playerbase eager to play whereas a nonBA mod would have to build one from scratch with 10-20 players usually, so glest would have a headstart and may even outnumber BA within the first month.
Thats not to say that glest would become the primary mod within our lobby server because its a different engine and thus can at most only take so much before spring starts becoming more attractive and vice versa.
