Fine - alternately, just make the comm untransportable by L1 transports. You could just raise his mass, right?Sleksa wrote:Mr.Frumious wrote:Just make a mutator that moves the L1 transport into L2 build-menus for, say, the combat-engineers or something. There, no transport-rush. Solved.

im not 100% sure of what you meant in that post, but i've seen and used atlases to transport mine or my allie's comms out of flash hordes.Mr.Frumious wrote:Sleksa wrote:It's a mutator for people who can't handle comnapping. You think they'll use an atlas in either of those cases?Mr.Frumious wrote:

Evidently due to the fact that highly experianced spring players make atlas dropping a comm into the base in the early game against the league rules, yet they are generally the people who make the most use of atlas and comm dropping in every other circumstance, I don't think the solution is as easy as you make it out to be. Your mutator suggestions all kill tonnes of gameplay.

maybe we need to do a stripped-down newbie annihilation ^^
If I were to suggest some solutions:
- increase air lab and atlas buildtime
- make first atlas cost 3-5x its normal cost (including buildtime)
- make llts damage atlases
- slow atlas down if it carries a com
- you can think of more that's possible with lua
- all of above
but never, ever impose such artificial rules. Computer games aren't f1 races and shouldn't need judges.

would fuck balance more than help

maybe, but this would also fuck balance on a different level

lua is evil

lol

I don't think atlas-com-dropping should be against the rules. It's easily countered.
What? Your uber-l33t build order doesn't include AA and an LLT before your first factory? Well then you're taking a risk (albeit a common one), and it's eventually going to bite you. If atlas-com-dropping were to ever become popular then ladder players would adjust their build orders to compensate. In the meantime it's a seldom-used tactic that can sometimes succeed and sometimes fail miserably... just like every other tactic. The only difference is that com-dropping tends to yield results (good or bad) quicker than others.

I drop comm infront of your base (possibly behind) and walk my boi to your base.RogerN wrote:I don't think atlas-com-dropping should be against the rules. It's easily countered.

Is any skillful player who actually plays ladder against current rules?
Mostly people arent against the rule, they are against the fact that the rule is needed due to the design of the mod... this rule is as old as snot isnt it?since so many people seem to be against this rule we will remove it for the first few weeks, and see what the games are like
