hay smoth i kinda like counterstrike can you make counterstrike into spring i think its pretty cool except i hate it, why do the terrorists use that kind of weapons and they dont die even when they get shot in the head by a pistol hey smoth do you think cs is gay? you have time till tomorrow to do this mod, i can help by playing the beta youll release tomorrow ok?
The horde is way too ghrey today... like everything else these times. No it's not new and interesting with yet another "wow everyone is kind of neutral, amazing!" Horde almost got moral high ground on the alliance even.
I want GOOD GUYS vs BAD GUYS
God I hope they don't make zerg go good in SC2... that would suck.. and it's not unlikely to happen some kind of lame alliance vs the Xelnaga.

The fact is that all of the sides were mixed, but I think the Horde had the best developed society and most believable interaction with each other. I'll be honest with you, most games every side comes off as evil or completely flavourless...Zpock wrote:The horde is way too ghrey today... like everything else these times. Horde made logical sense - a dynamic society made up of warriors of several races who have developed aspirations to growth and development through unity - it is a beautiful concept completely different from those central to the other sides.
Alliance was decadent and self-absorbed, with touches of xenophobia and arrogance. The Night Elves were bound by religion and the traditional arrogance of the elder race - two tired themes, repeated in every form of entertainment since the dawn of human thought and possibly even before. The Undead were half pale copy of Zerg, half poorly conducted angst.
Hell, the Naga were as thinly written as possible. The blood elves were foolishly loyal to their prince and solidly sullen. The Pandaren didn't even have a society to analyze.
As for Starcraft... the Zerg were initially off the moral compass - their organization and concept leaves no room for the vague concepts of good and evil. They were simply primal, unstoppable, mindless and governed by a single monstrous intellect. The Protoss were boring and passively evil through their adherence to tradition, as were the humans with their obsessive competition. The "good" on both of those sides emerged in rebellion.
actually, orcs are (atleast i think so) as old race as the elves. Their background was simple, but good. A slave race got itself free from its demonic masters, met trolls that had almost similiar fate, and later helped the noble tauren race to win centaurs that had almost butchered all tauren.
if anything, the horde is composed of 95% good guys. . .
i liked humans too because, well they are xenophobic for a reason, they had perhaps the least population of all the other races, mainly due to other races backstabbing/killing them. (they dislike elves for a reason) and they've had a warm friendship with dwarves in the past.
they are the "neutral" race that everyone in the past has pissed on.
All elves in general were turncoats(nagas?) and didnt really care when everyone else was being slaughtered(humans?), but the moment their own realms were under attack, they cried for help.
the undead were basically nothing more than weapons of the demons(archimonde), but by rolling some lucky dice they managed to become a "superpower"
naga were pretty thinly written yeah :\
the blood elves were familiar from wc2 storyline so theyre backed up by some well written story.
after kerrigan got control of the cerebrates controlling the zerg, they most definately became evil.
the protoss were simply gay. no further comments

the zerg, like the undead of wc3, were test - weapons of the nazi-terran-regime. they just thought it would be nice if they could test them out on some backwater human colonies ~.~

I never said the Orcs weren't old. They came over from their home world when the gates were first opened in the original Warcraft, already having pilliaged and exhausted their planet. Indeed, humans seemed reminiscent of a form of livestock on their homeworld if I recall the original storyline correctly.
You know, the Dwarves are the only Alliance race I can stand. When it came around to the expansion, I was half-way wishing they would move over to the Horde so I could stop paying attention to the Alliance in the campaign.
Also, the Zerg were only test weapons for as long as the Terrans could hold them separate from the Overmind's intellect. Once Kerrigan brought human morality into the equation, I agree the Zerg became distinctly evil.

The way I see it:
WarCraft 1, oh yah orc was badassed grins skinned angry invader hordes coming to kill everything. Humans valiant defenders of their lands, freedom, standing in the way of destruction protecting the innocent, etc. No bullshit.
WC2: Ok the orcs are still bad, but their getting corny.'
WC3: Orcs are now the semi-good guys, humans are basically losers, nelves wankers, and undead was pretty evil along with their demon buddies. Would prefer a lot if it was undead + orcs + demons vs rest tough.
Starcraft: Ahhh, Jimmy "The one decent guy in the galaxy" Rainor, great hero fighting all kinds of evil stuff. Protoss, upholders of good tradition and last hope against the zerg... the EVIL zerg coming to kill everything... great stuff
Broodwar: I never liked infested kerrigan. WAAAAAY watered down zerg. They even ally with rainor WTF!!!!.

true, but the humans werent losers, they just got gangbanged ;[WC3: Orcs are now the semi-good guys, humans are basically losers, nelves wankers, and undead was pretty nice.
Having demons as their masters is cool, esp since I like to think they liked it that way, like in the mission they drank demon blood again. They probably tought of it more as them controlling the demons as warlocks and stuff, even if it was kind of the other way around.

I simply find that bloodlust idea rather simple and a cop-out for not writing a real society for the many races of the Horde. It led to a lot of problems with the original concept which Blizzard bowed to by spinning some rubbish about a destroyed land and how the Orcs needed to live through conquest. That is an element of a formal fascist state, not a loose tribal society - contradictions all over!
