I thought you could use Upspring for that? There's also Servo too, but I can't vouch for either of them, having not tried using them yet

or you could do like zpock and use blender... but oh my god that is probably the same thing centurion will be doing for supcom.

The problem is that he thinks spring is still the same thing it was over a year ago. That is fine, let him go to the wrong engine and produce a sub-par tc. With 75b1 breathing on the back of my neck, I know the monster that is going to be coming. It is powerful and has posibilities never before available.

Personaly, I think that it is truely laughable, like when you see some stupid bimbo hook up with a guy you know is good for nothing and will abuse her later.

As far as centurion goes, he can piss and moan all he wants about the animation system. Everything I have done up to now has been for fun and nothing in the way of serious animation work. Work which will not start untill near 2.0's completion. Let alone the power of lua that will be available and all of the new tags and engine tweaks. He can have fun loading those apc's springs load/unload area are superior.

but what is the damn point of caring. Let him go make heavy icon gear! I am staying here and while spring may seem made of vinegar and assorted other bitter things, I see new ingredients coming soon that will make spring a dish that people will want to have a bite of.

Doesn't he use copy and paste for that? Still an awfully slow way. Reminds me, I was going to make a python script...

smoth wrote:the fact that the spring community helped him when they could have help others pisses me off. Oh well fuck him, I personaly laugh at his engine decision because supcom is for larger battles... and oh my god heavy gear isn't a large scale game.
You make it sound like he feasted on this community's knowledge or something. It'd be still in developement for Spring if it wasn't for...
Don't get me wrong, Spring is grand but all the inherited flaws and hard-coded stuff from TA is a problem.
He does have a point.

Yes, but we're getting over and rid of that. The next release will be a huge stepping stone on the path to unhardcodeyness (and I wish I knew a better word for that)

... It was mostly a one-man project and eventually (around Christmas) i got burned out with the project, partially over issues that had to do with scripts and the like which is not my forte...
I think this is what really made him decide to check out other game engines. He needed more people to work on the mod full-time, aside from other factors like anims and scripts in Spring.

Everyone here was rather busy with their own mods, so there wasn't any real hope of people helping his on a full time modder basis.

It happened to me once..

I actually just got back out of it, I just played games and everything seemed meaningless.

I am currently still regretting that lazyness, that was almost a half a month or more I wasted doing inefficient things.

Burnout is a big problem with stuff like this. Maybe we should write a tutorial about how to prevent burnout? :-)

Spiked burnsout very often. Though he has good reason with the insanely intense bursts of productivity he has. :(

I might sound dumb here. XD

I think it'd be nice for him to make a statement *here* about the mod. It seems like since all his statements about Spring have been on a Supcom forum, which, from what I've seen, sparks up this kind of "rivalry" between the Spring community and the Supcom community for some reason. o_o

Spring is better than Supcom and they're jealous of the fact :P

spring exceeds supcom in three ways

1.) supcom will remain as is for the rest of its life, spring will grow
2.) spring allows for more people to play, with a bigger variety on how,
3.) look at teh spring water!

supcom water is nice, it would be nice if we could have a water renderer that looked similair, if only as a stopgap for those who cant render dynamic water.

100% agreed, KDR.

Oh well, perhaps he would be willing to offer his artwork to an interested party for some budding coder to pull it together for Spring...

Or release his work under an open source license? :-)

Been dead forever, and the developer didn't ever release anything, so it's lost, IIRC.
