Supcom is a nice game, and I personally play Aeon not for the "OMG HOVARTANKRUSH!" but for the rather smexy looking units.

I'd possibly consider UEF also, but I really dislike the cybran weapons setup also.

Aeon = Slow fire, powerful
UEF, as far as I've gathered = Ranged weapons. Long range.
Cybran = Rapid fire low damage...

After seeing some ingame videos I'm not so keen on supcom any more...
One video was full of explosions and I thought: damn, this game demands so much hardware and all but all you get to see is the very same yellow-whiteish explosions in various sizes. Boring if you ask me... anyway this game lacks the charm TA had. The music in comparision to TA's isn't the best either.

By the way Caydr, from what I've seen it appears that the gun barrels on one of the battleship are four sided cylinders (could be a LOD model though). They must be doing it wrong... :P

Actually, the game has a lot more than explosions. The sheer scale actually opens up a lot of neato things you can do.

Or at least that's what I think.

I'm gonna take a look once I haev new computar.
It's just that it didn't look all that damn GREAT and HUGE as Mr. Taylor kept saying. Sure maps are huge, but so are springs with miniature models.

Also, does this game have any kind of inaccuracy? Haven't seen a single unit miss once, except for ships.

The mantis moved so fast you needed something with really high RoF to destroy them (Other mantises =/)

What is the difference between haveing normal sized maps and small units, or huge maps and normal sized units?

None that I can see. So, untill someone gives me a real reason why SupCom's scale isn't big enough, I'll hum to myself.

Pathfinding and...

well i dunno really. I don't belive supcoms units are really "small" it's just that the standard zoom level is a bit high and the scale. if buildings, the supcom and other things were scaled better...

Well the factories seemed to be the right size to me. I liked the scale...though the tanks never seemed small enough...or the trees not big enough. Or something. I don't know, all I want are slightly better explosions. They need more orange and smoke, with less white.

The trees in supcom are at the perfect scale and give strategic freedom other RTS's have failed trying to deliver on a strategic level.

Let's not forget that unlike all those filthy RTT:s (real time TACTICAL games) supcom dosn't have any stupid RPS, since ChrisT said so. Instead it has amazing physx simulation all the way down to the quantom level (yay SCU spam), so it's truely strategic!

It's only for modern pioneering people who push the envelope by buying shiny new computer parts (you don't want to be one of those barbaric caveman right!?), since all that physx takes so much raw CPU power!
