Map on the Surface of a Black Hole possible ?
I just thougth about it.. if future technolgoy would allow Units to stand and move on the Surface of a Black Hole ... a StarCorps.. could they fight a war there ?
Super Heat Gas is jetted out and Gama Rays and Black Holes looses Masses - so if you conquer it and wait a whole enternity you would get out again..
And if you think this is druggy -- i have far worser thoughts.. so keep that coment for the worst things.
I one suggested for a ShooterMap a Vulcano in Desert Mountains - Fine Winddeliverd Sand running in Rivers through Canyons down into the Vulcano - which blows out Hot Gas and creates that way a Citybuildingshapes made of Gasfilled Glas. So be happy for all the things i don`t take to the Feature Request forum...

certain nvidia drivers let you play blackhole-style on every map.
there is also that very cool movie "The Black Hole" where a group of scientist cant decide if it would be a good or bad idea to fly the spaceship (they are sitting inside) into to giant blackhole that crushs all materia by its giant gravity force.

The very notion of fighting on an event horizon is like saying we should fight our wars inside this teapot I have here, but you're not allowed to downsize your tanks and they must fit inside this ting teapot.

Also, blackholes arent timeless, they have time but beyond the event horizon it does not progress, it stands still.
Just as moving into a region of space with no galaxies nearby or other gravitational effects would make your clock seem to go at the same speed but it'd be going far faster than what the same clock on earth would be going at.
Even mars progresses at a different speed to earth in time.
In the mean time how can you explain the lack of lighting on the surface? A platform built around a blackhole would probably collapse with the disturbances of peewees walking around ontop, and commanders dgunning. More to the point what would ti actually look like?

Black holes don't have a surface... the event horizon is simply an arbitrary sphere around the black hole, beyond which the acceleration due to gravity from the matter inside the black hole is greater than the speed of light. It's not a surface in anything but a very abstract geometric sense.
There's not likely to be much there because, in order for a photon to be stuck at the event horizon, it would have to be moving straight away from the singularity, and thus the only photons that would be there would be those produced by the collapsing star at the exact point in time during its collapse that its diameter was equal to the diameter of the event horizon. Any photons produced inside the event horizon would be pulled into the singularity; any entering the event horizon from the outside could not possibly have a trajectory that is straight away from the singularity, as in order to attain that trajectory, they would have had to pass through the singularity, and thus would have stayed there.

(this is rubbish afik - it depends what speed and direction you were going and is hardly dependant on what other objects are arround you)

its all relative
learn special relativity and read a brief history of time.
if i move past you (and you are still) at 9.999 C it will apear that time is going VERY slow for me relative to you
however from my point of view it will be going at the normal rate and your time is going slow, as slow infact as mine is to you.
so if we are to believe that time is dilated to a point where time stops for the black hole, infact from its point of view (wtf) time has infact stopped for us. (allthough this is not the case as noone really knows wtf happens in black holes, it is believed that these equations break down. especialy considering that there is more mass in one spot than anyone can explain right now.)
also af in your example about mars, even if you are on mars, because both objects are accelerating wierd complex things happen (beyond the normal time dilation equation) and if you sit on mars for awhile then return to earth, your clock will not be out of sync with thoes on earth.
(all of the above asumes we ignore all other time/gravity effects and that we are using simple time dilation)

Because gravity is weaker on the ISS than at Earth's surface, PARCS should accumulate an extra second every 10,000 years compared to clocks ticking on the planet below. PARCS won't be there that long, but the clock is so stable that it will reveal this effect in less than one year.
