I guess my internet firewall blocks UF, so I can't see the pictures...

Which is odd, because I don't actually own a firewall.

But I'm confident the map is wtfpwn.

No permission necessary dude. THose textures are the default ones included with l3dt (I've never used them before).

As I meantioned, use it as a template for further use, add land types as you feel comfortable, etc. ;p

Tiling?

Post by Pxtl »

Looks very pretty, and I'm fond of the layout. Don't suppose you could imrove the tiling of the texture in the flat parts of the map? 24 megs is pretty heavy.

300 kbps for me, so its..

300 X 3 seconds.

1 meg per 3 seconds. 3 X 24 is 72 so..

75 seconds for that map... That is NOTHING to me :P

Now, back on topic with this map...

Hawt... Naked... Lesbian.. Moonbabes...

Seriously, this is the greatest desert map I've seen yet

played two 2v2 (ee) on this map, it was quite good.
i like that the higher area behind the base contain no metal and so are probally undefended which you can exploit for drops or to build some hidden radar.
rushing to the left hill might be a good tactic because a lone single minigun killed several plasma mechs there. and the second game ended with the host quitting (or crashing) when a light plasma turret killed his stuff from above.

the lava (?) metalpatches are nice but too round, they look like buried glass marbles. also i would expect the ground around such lava-drop to be more burned or have cracks or something.

Knorke. They aren't lava patches. Look at the map in fps mode and take a gander at the sky.

That knowledge, plus the knowledge that the metal patches are actually features cunningly shaped to the exact size of my metal patches should explain a lot.

If that still doesn't do it... Turn on reflective units, load up a mod of your choice, and zoom in on any units. Then ask yourself why the texture has a reddish tint  We're getting warmer 8)

Nah I'm just messing with you dude. The reason theya re red is because the sun has a reddish tint and the features reflect the sun. Features make the best looking metal patches, but they aren't all that customizable which is the downside, but one I'm perfectly willing to take, because basically... I like them that way.

Thanks for the ncie comments guys ;P

I have been wondering if you wanted some new metal clumps.

I can do them to match different types of environments(snow, sandy, grass)

Did you want some new ones?

I will probably look at doing that when I do those other features we discussed.

I wouldn't mind having some more to choose from, but that said... I am perfectly happy with the ones I have ;p

Would you mind sharing those metal patches to everyone or is that something you want to keep private? i would understand if you want to keep the M patches to yourself...

Well, assuming that Smoth doesn't mind (and I know he doesn't), sure.

I have publicly stated a dozen times that anyhting that I use in my maps is for the community to use. Download this map and just pull the features out of it.

goolash_ I don't mind, any map feature that I do is always available to the community. You can credit me or not I don't care either way, just as long as they are usefull. For example. the banannaleaf/palmtrees are done by me, many maps use them.. they are there for you to use.

Thanks Smoth, I'll surely use them in my next map seeing as my metal patches are notoriously ugly :P
