Suggestion for a future mod
How about putting, in some future mod, an espacial center that can send rockets to the space so they can return with metal? It would be also interesting to do spacial bases to collect energy and spy enemys (not attack that would make most defensive things useless), but then there would be also the possibily of making in land radars that cant detect enemy buildings on space and in land missile bases that can make missiles to blast those buildings out of the space.

Eh, theoeretically (and this is VERY theoretically, mind you), the TA "metal maker" would be possible... if our friends in the Arm and the Core have made breakthroughs that make femtotechnology possible (this is the step beyond the step beyond nanotechnology - remember, we're only beginning to touch the surface of nanotechnology, so this theoretically is very far in the future), it could draw air from the atmosphere or dirt from the ground and fuse the atoms in it together to create whatever metal "metal" is.
As I said, this is VERY theoretical. According to our current understanding oh physics, it would take a HUGE amount of energy to trigger this sort of fusion. Obviously they've discovered a lower-energy way to do it!

I didnt got it. how can those things be not feasible if we already have spy sattelites feeded by solar energy and rockets that can reach the space in real life? the only thing surreal on it its the outspace metal collecting.neddiedrow wrote:Sure, none of those are feasible, and once you understand physics and chemistry - well, really nothing in a science fiction/future RTS is - I think the collection from space would be a nice way to replace the conventional metal maker.

Yeah, the way I always rationalised MM (and Fusions) was that 'metal' only consists of some elements, so the MM just fuses/fissions useless elements together while the fusion reactor fuses them for power.
Thing about that rationalisation is that in fairly short order (probably a couple of days) you could process an entire planet into 'metal' using TA build times.

Anyhow, that really reminds me of Metal Fatigue and its orbital plane. Who else played it?
I think that by "not feasible" he meant "not feasible to mod".manored wrote:I didnt got it. how can those things be not feasible if we already have spy sattelites feeded by solar energy and rockets that can reach the space in real life? the only thing surreal on it its the outspace metal collecting.neddiedrow wrote:Sure, none of those are feasible, and once you understand physics and chemistry - well, really nothing in a science fiction/future RTS is - I think the collection from space would be a nice way to replace the conventional metal maker.
