On the On the other hand... it totally borked the Lord, which was very deliberately un-welded to create razor-sharp edges. And having tested things, it appears that models that mix unwelded sections with welded sections end up 100% welded, too... which makes certain types of shapes come out very rounded-feeling even when I'd prefer otherwise :|
Yes, everything is welded now...but that is easier to solve :-)
If you want sharp edges you can explode/separate/cut n paste them to new object... :) THe cost is just add one or two more object hierarchies...

I agree it's easy enough to get around. I just wanted to make sure it was known that the issue existed. Minor stuff, I know, but as I said, it was about the only thing I didn't like about this version, and most people weren't going to notice it until too late, so I'm glad I tested it and found this out :-)

At least now Upspring is really up and running :-)
It always easier to break thing (friendship, ceramics and 3d welding) than to fix them lol.....

I have a last request to make... when I use the origin move tool I'd like to enter the numbers by hand rather than moving the origin by mouse. Would it be possible to override the edit fields on the right to directly edit the origin when in origin move mode?

Uploaded version 1.41, the only change is the manual mode for origin-move, as requested by rattle.

Get it here

Supporting smoothing groups or other ways of making sharp-edges is a lot of work, I have no idea if I'm going to do that.

It's ok, JC, I can just work around that limitation. I have multiple ways to split things, so long as they stay split.

I found a minor bug concerning s3os. When changing the name of a piece and saving the s3o using Save from the menu changes the name of the piece in the list but internally it stays the same.

I just wasted the last two hours to figure out why I couldn't hide that damn piece (after renaming it in upspring).

Quick work around is to use save as instead.

Hi JC, dont bother with my importing coordinate problem... Now I know I can do proper UV without the export import procedure....

Gonna write it in my next Upspring tutorial :-)

I have the same problem. Obj with UV coordinates opens fine in Upspring, model has uvmap (but has no hierarchy - obj limitation), but importing coordinates from the same file to the same model crashes Upspring.

I await that next tutorial then.

Crashes for me as well and UV importing never worked for me when importing from OBJ. Also replacing objects of an s3o with .OBJs crashes upspring, but that's new. It was runing my models before when I import more than one piece and don't save/reload in between.

1.42:

- Fixed UV importing
- Fixed OBJ export, it now exports the full model instead of only the root object
- Fixed object replacing

Tested Upspring 1.42, and there is something strange... The crash is gone, but now when I execute Texture Mapping->Import UV coordinates from model, the uv coordinates are not imported at all. Texture Mapping->Show UV Mapping shows an empty rectangle after that :(
Opening the same OBJ through File->Load Model still results in the model loaded fine with UV coordinates present (but no hierarchy, so that model is mostly useless).
Maybe that has something to do with my model being all quads, no tris at all?

Question:
UpSpring can export models WITH textures,
to "3ds" or "obj" format ?
