Meh Internet explorer 7

I don't mind it not rendering the same at a pixel level, I mean the way they can cause loss of infomation due to it failing to render the same on all browers, other odd stuff it does. Surly you must have come across the weird pasting text ontop of itself error, were what works in fire foxs, ends up all garbeld in IE. I was just saying why can't they all do it the same.El Capitano wrote:Actually, a mark-up language is intended to give a document semantic meaning. Browsers conforming to the HTML standards never cause loss of information from valid HTML due to rendering differences.aGorm wrote:I don't mind it not rendering the same at a pixel level, I mean the way they can cause loss of infomation due to it failing to render the same on all browers, other odd stuff it does.
Well, actually, no, and you're asking the wrong question. You should be asking "why does IE still have all these daft bugs"? After all, the rendering differences between all of the other major browsers are negligable.Surly you must have come across the weird pasting text ontop of itself error, were what works in fire foxs, ends up all garbeld in IE. IE installs with Windows, 3rd party does not, less simple to install.
This is a capitalistic world, water follows the path of least resistance, needs drives the man, i run the simplest way wich is also the fastest and user friendliest, i keep Opera in case IE haters made a site inaccesible with IE. Want me to use Opera? Pay me
MS simply neglected the internet browser part since a law suit way back. Thats all, theres nothing else a multibillion company can't do; that is if it "wishes" so. Competition is good alltough in some cases conspiracy theories indicate it exist for the sake of law competition shaking hands w/o any problems and high place people making high digit numbers while the wise masses battle it out on the internet over trivial things. I personally will not Keep opera as the default because IMHO its the browser of choice for webdesigners wich are the most arrogant programmers in the comunity perhaps, thus i chose not to support them. The only reason sme sites show bad in IE is the poor programming behind it, i'm not saying IE is easier than Opera to handle, just that webdesigners should diserve the money they make by becoming true programmers with knowledge of more than php, javascript, html and some round-about other scriptings.

How is installing IE7 any simpler than installing any other browser? Aside from getting pressured to launch the installer by Windows Update, that is?raneti wrote:IE installs with Windows, 3rd party does not, less simple to install.

Yes, MS abandoned you after it had stamped out the competition. Wow, aren't you glad you're supporting a company that'll leave you high-and-dry the first chance it getsi keep Opera in case IE haters made a site inaccesible with IE. Want me to use Opera? Translation: "I'm going to cut my nose off to spite my face". What's even funnier is that you're wrong! Firefox is favoured by considerably more developers, largely due to things like the developer toolbar and the Javascript debugger.I personally will not Keep opera as the default because IMHO its the browser of choice for webdesigners wich are the most arrogant programmers in the comunity perhaps, thus i chose not to support them.
See, now you're showing you know absolutely nothing about yet another subject. IE has terrible standards support and only now, 5+ years after everybody else, does IE support transparent PNGs.The only reason sme sites show bad in IE is the poor programming behind it,

Hahahahaha! Javascript is actually a very good programming language, web applications are developed in a variety of languages and you have no idea the work that goes into some applications.
read some history, for the rest i don't even bother...Yes, MS abandoned you after it had stamped out the competition.
This site doesn't seem to have any flaw showing perfectly well in my IE.
Alltogheter I like my windows looking the same, and i like to blend internet explorer with windows explorer. I liek standardization and thats not about to change. The incoming IE must have some bad flaws for me or anyone else to drop it. From what i hear it will improve a lot so good news.

Well, it's got a non-standard interface, it still doesn't support standards as well as everybody else, will require re-learning the interface, will break a number of sites that use IE hacks and isn't any faster than the competition. So, by your own reasonining, you'll be switching to something else.I'm well aware of the history of the situation. The IE team was disbanded after IE6 was released as MS had effectively removed Netscape from the game. Once Firefox started gaining traction, MS re-assembled the IE team to play catch-up.raneti wrote:read some history, for the rest i don't even bother...Yes, MS abandoned you after it had stamped out the competition.Well duh. That's like asking why IE6 doesn't run on Windows 3.1. After all, IE5 did. This site doesn't seem to have any flaw showing perfectly well in my IE.Well, IE7's about to change all that. Bad luck!Alltogheter I like my windows looking the same, and i like to blend internet explorer with windows explorer.Ah, so you support Mozilla, Opera and Safari then? And to add to that, note that a good majority of IE7's "features" are stuff that has been in firefox, opera and so on for years now. Tabbed browsing, whup de do.El Capitano wrote:I'm well aware of the history of the situation. The IE team was disbanded after IE6 was released as MS had effectively removed Netscape from the game. IE is like Windows itself, not the best tool available, pretty shoddy compared to the competition, even. But with Windows it has so much software that just isn't available on other OSes (especially games). IE doesn't have that as the shoddily made websites are getting fewer and IE7 even unbreaks the rendering so the shoddy websites now display properly and don't work (i.e. are the way they should be).
I use Opera because I prefer its interface. Hold RMB, click LMB -> back, hold RMB, use mousewheel -> switch tabs, hit F12 to enable or disable things that annoy you (sound in websites, Flash, animated gifs, all off for me and using the site preferences to enable them for websites that need them), easy ad blocking (though I think FF's extensions are better for that but most blocking is done by my hosts file anyway), easy whitelisting of websites for anything you disabled (I set Opera to block cookies but can easily enable them for websites I want to allow), customizable interface, the "trashcan" to bring back accidentally closed tabs, one click for forcing websites to use your own CSS instead of theirs if you encounter e.g. light blue text on pink background, ...
Oh and the quick history navigation which also means I can press back and text in the text fields is still there.
