Spring: 1944 v0.01 Alpha

With even half of realistic ranges (that is, rifles with ~400m, in our scale), a single rifleman could fire across about half of The Cold Place. Snipers would be able to shoot well over the entire map, and artillery or tanks could fire across most of Epic.
See the issue there?
Anyways, don't worry, the ranges work out pretty well. Especially with the hide deal that spiked mentioned.

Though we're still waiting on the implementation of a more advanced radar system, which would allow you to do different types of Radar, such as giving infantry a radar range at which they can "spot" but not "identify" units, or essentially give them two tiers of LOS, one vague LOS (where a radar dot appears) and one specific LOS.
Then you could give proper radar for aircraft.

To be clear here, by 'stealth' I ment cloak. At the moment ther are no radars in-game.
One thing I don't understand, why do the Germans get a a pilbox and not the allies. Ok so you may not have finished the allies one, but wouldn't it have been an idea to make the German one unbuildable as well? For the purposes of people playing.

It's intentional that the Germans get one and the US doesn't, for the sole reason that the United States never made "pillboxes" or bunkers of any sort. In the logic of the game, the Germans are crafted to be much less mobile than the US. Whereas German tanks are rather heavy and slow moving (albeit incredibly powerful) and they have static heavily armoured defenses, the US has incredibly mobile forces made up of light, fast tanks.

static heavily armed defenses + lightly armed fast tanks = lots of wrecked tanks. the germans were horribly outnumbered and had about 1 tank to every 6 american tanks and still completely socked the allied forces in terms of kill ratios. the heavier german tanks were figured to take one loss for every 5 american tanks destroyed.

Such statistics paint a grim picture but do not take into account the devestating effect the Allied air force had on the Wehrmacht, nor does it take into account the Allies' artillery superiority or the advent of more capable tanks armed with 76.2mm and 17 pounder guns.
And a 1:5 kill ratio becomes more acceptable when one realizes that for every Tiger there were over 35 Shermans.

Unfortunately not all actions took place on roads, and Panzer IV's 40 KPH road speed becomes 20 KPH cross country, while Sherman can easily do 30 KPH cross country.
Not to mention the M10 and M36 which can do 50 MPH (road), the M5 which can do 60 KPH (road), and last but certainly not least, the M18, which can do an astonishing 85 KPH (road), making it the fastest tracked vehicle to fight in WW2 (and faster than the M1 Abrams).
Of course the T-34 trumps 'em all with its 60 KPH road speed, coupled with its almost unparalleled off-road capability, outstanding reliability, heavy armament (in 85 series) and mass numbers.

Well, yeah, because in 1944 the Allies (er, at least the British Commonwealth and the USA) were always fighting under conditions of air superiority.
Personally, I think that this mod would be a lot more accurate if the Germans could build planes, and they were roughly competitive with the models produced by the Brits and USA, but they took so long to build that it wasn't worth doing
